About to attempt another USDM booking and as its close to the date of going i'm going to be a bit limited as what routes i can take...

Does anyone know an easy way of finding some MPMs from Perth to US cities and from recent experience are USDM still crackign down on this as hard as they were about 9-12 months ago when i did my last booking??

there is no easy way to find MPM. a chart was prepared by a fellow AFFer I believe with some key routes and applicable MPM. from west coast AU you should be free from most MPM restrictions via Asia (as opposed to say leaving from SYD going to LAX which is tight).

usdm can use MPM alongside a raft of other exclusions if they want to deny your routing. it's a case of YMMV.

best option is to just try.

bcworld has the best knowledge of MPM on AFF IMO.

I also believe it comes down to the type of agent you speak to - some will enforce every rule strictly, others will let you get away with murder (see successful bookings thread!)

Personally I would just try your dream itinerary first. Then if you have problems try some agent roulette then come back and we can provide some opinions. No point going to too much planning and finding out the agents won't allow it for some other obscure reason they make up.

Remember PER is a very long way from the US so provided you are planning a fairly straightforward 2-stop itinerary through either Asia and Europe or South Asia and North Asia you may be fine. It may be quicker to go west than east.....

I just checked my next booking and Great Circle Mapper adds the miles to 28,424.

Cost me 120,000 miles for J.

My upcoming Guam trip is 17,166 flown miles - that was 30,000 miles in J.

As I said, some agents don't care about the rules.....

That's good value, imo. What is the routing like?

If you still need it there's a tab for PER here...let me know if you need to know a city that isn't shown:

Do we have a tab for ADL?

No sorry...I couldn't be bothered! Took long enough for those 4.

Probably work off the MEL values and if something is looking doubtful ask here and I'll check.

Thanks BC, i seemed to recall that someone had done something with this but do you think i could find it when i did some searching...

If you don't mind making it available it might be worth having it as a sticky or something in the USDM area for easy future access...

I'll probably try and fly into JFK now, so should be able to come under the MPM fairly easily...

Does anyone have any examples of successful MEL-LAX routings they have booked/seen booked with USDM?

Are ANA flights (NRT/HND-LAX or NRT/HND-SFO) ok to book? I see decent availability on ANA tool but not sure if that is avail to USDM?

Much the same really but I have booked:

MEL-PVG CA (overnight stop)
PVG-ICN-SFO on OZ

When you say NRT/HND are you actually talking about flying into one and out of the other? This should be OK but you might need to convince an agent that these are co-terminals and this isn't an open jaw.

For NH flights why not double check on the UA site? US should be able to book them as long as they are not operated by Air Japan which I don't think any of the US flights are.

Thanks for the tip, checking united website i can see NRT-SEA, but not NRT-LAX which suggests to me the ANA availability i'm seeing is only for ANA members.

I'm flying on ANA (NRT-IAD) on a USDM award in April, flying into HND and stopping over in Tokyo before the flight out of NRT. I didn't need to clarify that they're co-terminals.

when coming to PVG???

I just put the following itin on hold:

PER-SIN-BKK-AKL-PPT 11774 miles
PPT-AKL-PVG-SIN-PER 13129 miles

and was wondering for the future how do I know whether I am at some maximum permitted mile limit for an award with USDM?
I cannot find a tool online for this and it would be good to know when I am approaching a limit when dreaming up itineraries.
I get the feeling i got quite lucky with the one above...

MPM+25% for this one is 8768 miles. So is it ticketed, or just on hold?
