737 J Seats 'Very Bad'

Love the transformation, but J.B. is clearly working with what he has. So about the 'new' business class seats in the 737's: these are the least comfortable premium seat I've sat in, ever! Hardly any recline. No footrest. Hard and shapeless. And no laptop power.

Spent 13 hours in these this month, plus had a flight back from Perth in the 'real' seat on the A330.

Hope we get something better in the not too distant future, the current 737 J seat is clearly a fast bolt-in job and should be replaced asap.

I haven't spent as much time in them as yourself, but had 6 or so hours in them back in February and I found them to be quite good. That said, all of these flights were during the day or evening and weren't used for sleeping at all but I don't think I'd have any better trip on a red eye with Qantas.

You would be hard pressed to find a 737 seat with power in Australia, as for least comfortable, the 734s take that title for me, but only marginally, if it's not a Skybed it's all much of a muchness to me!

I actually think they are just fine. But that's why we are here, to get the answers from everyone perspective.

Seat comfort is, of course, subjective - but I like the VA 737 J seats. (Admittedly, I might be a freak, because I hate QF Skybeds but love BA 747 J seats).

Every other domestic J carrier I've flown with has used seats that were bolted in. I don't think leaving seats unbolted (be that VA J seats, or otherwise) would be a significant improvement to pax comfort.

I find the 737 J seats OK, sure it was only East coast short haul but still comfortable.

I do not like the A330 J seats. They are too high, I find them most uncomfortable.

+1 for ok by me. (again, my experiences are easy coast flights under 3 hrs and not overnight transcontinental, but did manage to fall asleep )

I find the J seats on the 737 very comfortable and actually prefer them to the A330 on the perth legs.

Is this very new? I've been on a few J seats (not J product) on BSIs and never noticed laptop power.

The brand new qf 738s have laptop and USB connections in j. Very comfy leather seats and a significant improvement on the clapped out 734s qf have been working to death.

Julius Grafton, I think the new seats are excellent you would be one of not many who does not think so. Are they less comfortable than the seats on your flight to Bali! With all respect, maybe you need to upgrade your laptop if it can't last the distance on an Australian domestic leg or even get an iPad. I can't seem to find a thread post from you with any positive comments.

I don't like em either - same reasoning as yourself ... very disappointing recline and no footrest makes life pretty uncomfortable. As they've just been put in I doubt we'll see any further substantial change for years. Better than Y, for sure, and particularly DJ Y which are hard and overstuffed (or something??).

It's a rather rudimentary product alright.
No IFE
No power
No legrest
No lumbar control
Very limited recline

I don't mind the seats actually but they really need to sort their IFE out. And the trays are weird.

Have flown about 6 flights in J in the last two weeks and I must say the staff have been great.

I forgot about the tray tables. I think the most absolutely brilliant thing about those seats is how the table stretches across to rest on the opposite armrest. I typically loathe armrest tables because of their flimsiness but allowing it to be anchored at both ends is a huge advantage, in my opinion.

(Although I'm possibly revealing my inexperience here, presumably I'll now get flooded with examples of other commonplace seats that do the same thing!)

Sure for an opup to J it's acceptable but paying for a J seat on a 738 is crazy imho.
