A330 Seat Pitch in J / Best Seat

Not sure about the actual amount of inches but in a real life perspective you have quite a lot of room regardless

I have quite long legs and was still unable to touch the seat in front with my feet

Queue OT responses about wearing white socks with black shoes (Most likely from LiamR) but hey, you try make one weeks worth of clothes stretch nearly three weeks and see if you can still obey 'thy rules of fashion! lol

Unless you take a tape measure onboard and start dimensioning the aircraft, I'd say we will never find out the real answer. I trust Virgin got it right.

2. I've done two weeks in Melbourne with carryon, including a suit. Always looked fab. ;)

Hm - I reckon I can with my feet touch the seat in front in a SkyBed...

Unless you take a tape measure onboard and start dimensioning the aircraft, I'd say we will never find out the real answer. I trust Virgin got it right.

on virgin a330 take into account that your space is encroached upon as the pax in front reclines more... in full recline the seatback gets closer over you than the fixed shell of the skybed mk1... so both have pros and cons.. in the end you still have to step over someone when in sleep mode if you're in a window/middle seat on either airline...(and no climbing at all if on a QF a330 international config E/F seats!)... its all about preference

Just interested from those in the know what the Seat Pitch of the Virgin A330 Business class is?

I believe they claim that it is 62' Business Class travel on Virgin Australia flights | Virgin Australia , yet all the EK sources tend to believe that the 330's offer 60' of legroom.

Did these seats get moved around between the change over, or is it a typo from VA's perspective?

The seats got re-furbished as well as the cabin, so 62' is true.

Wow, I didn't know Virgin A330's had 60 or 62 feet of legroom!!
 
Have 1B for a PER flight soon; only other seat in cabin selected is 2E

Do any have preferences in seating for this Cabin?

(Torn between 1A window or 1E as part of the only pair of seats where no-one needs to step over another to access the aisle.)

I'd like to know too Serfty. I've got a PER-SYD-MEL coming up, on 332 and have chosen 1B and 1J, somewhat randomly as there is little to no online information regarding DJ seatmaps for the 332 with the J revamp.

Looks like I've not been so lucky on the way home, MEL-PER on a 73W which, although sold as a J seat appears from DJ's seat selection to be the old PE with blocked out middle seat and no J "cabin"

Transcon flights should all now feature proper J seating and service.

The seat maps have been inconsistent for the last few weeks or so - my last flight (according to the seat map) was supposed to be a re-fit, however I scored one of the older planes instead.

I can't remember when it was announced now, but am fairly confident that all transcon flights (not including via ADL) should now feature J seating and service.

100% of my flights on a seatmap like that have been new seats (ie J cabin) fitted to a non-repainted (ie red colour scheme) aircraft. The front left bulkhead seems to be the universal indicator of whether a J cabin is fitted. Some may also find it useful to know that the relative positions of the bulkhead on the diagram aren't representative of the actual aircraft fitout - legroom is identical on both sides of row 1.

The seatmap with a bulkhead and 2+2 seating only seems to apply to Sky Interior aircraft.
 
Now that's sorted, which is the better seat?

For me it's row 1 - only consideration is A, E or F seat. (E/F for reasons already expressed)

Daylight East/West flights so I want to avoid North facing windows.

PS, good tip re Port side Bulkhead in row 1.:idea:

I flew Syd/Per/Syd in J last week; 2A Syd-Per, then 1A Per-Syd. I'm 6'4", and found that I could just touch the seat infront from row 2 with my feet, but from row 1 the bulkhead was quite close - no doubting that there was much more leg room in row 2 than row 1. For me I couldn't recline comfortably in row 1 (though I could in row 2).

So, I'd avoid row 1 where possible, and go for rows 2 or 3. Row 1 was also had a little less room either side of the seat - maybe due to the aircraft narrowing?
 
Thanks for the info on the J class seating. I'll change out of row 1 into 2 and beyond I think.

I came across to SYD last night on one of the refit 332's in Y, boy, heres a heads-up, the Y seats are the most uncomfortable I can remember since squirming through 8 hours on Air Mauritius in Y.

Bloomin lump (or something) right in the middle of my back and I kept sliding off the seat. I'd rather have been sitting on the carpet in the aisle I think. Yikes, no more DJ Y more me. Coming home tomorrow on QF in a 747, that should be much more reasonable.

Not to be completely negative though, their priority baggage, check-in and boarding works really well ... I mean REALLY well. QF, take note.
