Change from VA1 to VA3 on 7 March 2015 - any ideas?

Hi everyone,

I got an email this week from VA advising of a change in my itinerary for a SYD - LAX flight. They've moved me from VA1 to VA3 which departs and arrives at the same time so I presume it's the same flight with a different number. I then went in to do a dummy booking on the VA website for the same dates, and then a few on either side and it seems to be that they have changed the flight number for that date only (7 March 2015, SYD - LAX).

Any ideas why??? My sense of curiosity is killing me!!!

I'll be quite interested to see what the answer is for this one, as I received an odd email from VA this week after accepting the time change for VA1 in February (returning on VA2 in March), to "contact us urgently to book alternative flights", which threw me into a bit of a panic (as per my other thread, so won't repeat it all here!). I've just had a look at the flight timetables for February/March, and the only date VA3 shows up for is 7 March - all the other dates still show VA1, so that seems a bit odd!

I was doing some dummy bookings the other day and noticed that every flight in the booking tool was duplicated with 2 different flight numbers.

This is very strange . I have also just had a look and VA7 ex BNE changes to VA 5 on the 7th March also ??????

Hmmmm agree - I just got my reservation confirmation for my BNE - LAX flight on March 7 ......it just doesn't 'look' or 'feel right' at all.

If anyone can crack the mystery for the 'VA1 change to VA3' and 'VA7 change to VA5' mystery on Saturday March 7 I'd love to know what is going on.

Fair enough ....just so long as the whole 'test' doesn't go pear shape and crash the whole thing .......but of course that won't happen, after all they are sure to have a team of experts monitoring it like a hawk right ?
