Do Virgin have lounge passes similar to Qantas?

Hi everyone,

Firstly, apologies if I've posted this in the wrong section as it's my very first post on these forums!

I've booked flights to Melbourne for February for my partner and I flying Virgin. I was hoping to pick up some lounge passes to use in Melbourne before out return flight to Brisbane as it's a bit of a special occasion. However when I look around I've noticed that almost all of the passes available seem to be for Qantas. Am I missing something here or do Virgin passes seem a lot harder to find?

Thanks!
Malarkey

I don't believe they do. The complimentary passes are online and linked to your own VFF account- like when you achieve Silver status. Not sure how it works with CC access.

Alternatively, what do you think of the idea of buying a super cheap Jet Star flight on the same day around the same time just to use it to get into the Qantas lounge? or is it more hassle than it's worth?

Personally I would think more trouble than it's worth. Use the money to buy refreshments at the airport. The domestic lounges are not amazing places to hang out in IMHO.

The QF and VA flights are in different terminals.

TBH, I agree with scwappy - you'd be better off just buying a drink in the terminal. The domestic lounges are pretty average - I wouldn't go out of my way to spend more time there than necessary. Save the money and enjoy another drink by the Yarra and head to the airport later.

You can buy single entry passes at the lounge for $65 each (or using velocity points), but you'd get much better value just spending that in the terminal on food and drink...

Nope, they are all electronic and as above, linked to a members FF card.

That's not correct - the passes with the ANZ Travel Adventures card are laminated physical cards, not linked to FF account.

Must admit I've never seen them or heard about them. All other passes are electronic, including those provided by Amex.

Thanks for the input everyone. Looks like it's not worth it. I'll save it for my next international trip instead!

If you have a Velocity Amex, you get 2 free entry passes pa. Annual fee is $350 but they give you a return economy flight for that too. You generally get bonus points on signing up too. It varies but think it's about 50K at the moment.

Don't know about Mel, Brisbane. The Sydney lounge is ok. Direct entry from outside is good, then it's beer/wine and a salad bar, Can be busy. The Perth lounge is good, they generally have a soup and a meal of some sort plus the salad bar and barista etc. It's pretty big and not too busy when i fly.

You can also check the Lounge Meetup thread, maybe someone can guest you in.

curbside entry is only for SG and WP so if your had a pass, you'd have to use the normal entry.

Do you have to request these, or do they send them out automatically? I have the card and have received the bonus velocity points but have not received any lounge passes

I think if you don't request them you don't get them.

I just called up a few days ago and mine are in the mail.

Tip when calling up: Choose the points/rewards option. I didn't hear any options suitable for claiming lounge passes so I think I pressed 0 to talk to someone, then as soon as they answered they transferred me into the "rewards" queue.

Phone number on here:

I'll take a photo of the pass to upload when mine arrives.

They automatically go onto to your account. You should see them when you login to your velocity account.

I just got an email from ANZ about this and gave a number to call, so I don't think it is automatic I checked my velocity account and only has my velocity Amex passes listed

So they do!...

AS mentioned before - you can also buy access for $65 or 10,000 points (requires up to 3 days to load apparently)..
