Looks like its new this year:

The new Entertainment book has been released and this year includes Virgin. All entertainment book members can purchase Virgin gift cards with a discount of 5%. I contacted Virgin to confirm that if gift cards are used to purchase flights the $7.70 booking fee is NOT incurred.
And when members register their gold cards, Virgin send a $50 credit to their Velocity accounts.

You can also get the book as an iPhone app this year to save lugging around the actual book.

Is there a limit to the amount of vouchers one with the Entertainment Book can buy?

Entertainment™ Digital Membership also allows you to redeem offers directly from your Android smartphone.

The price varies between $55 and $70 depending on the 'books' region.

Wow - $50 VA credit plus all the $$$ saved on WW Wish cards.
I'm going to get even more value out of my Entertainment book this year ;).

Thoughts on digital vs hard copy? I'll be buying one, but not sure which.

Im going digital, means I don't have to carry it around or plan in advance.

I also noticed some good 50% off deals for the Crown hotels in Melbourne when I was flipping through the book.

Digital would be more convenient but I'm guessing staff will not be used to it in the beginning and I don't really have much interest in helping them learn if I'm honest. For this reason I'm leaning toward hard copy. Get the digital copy the following year, assuming the digital version takes off.

I am liking the sound of this! More reason to go with VA over QF, especially with the new QFF changes.

Do you need to purchase gift vouchers or can you purchase flights directly? There is a cost involved in purchasing gift vouchers.

What is the deal with registering a gold card and receiving $50 credit. Velocity Gold card? Gold credit card?

You register the entertainment Gold card number to you Velocity number.

What cost is that, aside from having money invested and potentially non use?
The vouchers are purchased from a third party and there is a processing fee involved. I don't remember whether it is a set fee or a % of the voucher amount.

You register the entertainment Gold card number to you Velocity number.

Ah! That makes sense.

I have never purchased an entertainment book. This could be the right time. ;)

I got talked in to buying one at work a month ago .. rather glad I did! :)

I think the $50 voucher is actually a Virgin Australia Holidays Voucher not a Virgin flight voucher

To celebrate our 20[SUP]th[/SUP] Anniversary, Velocity Frequent Flyer and Virgin Australia Holidays have come to the party and are offering every Entertainment™ Member a free $50 Virgin Australia Holidays Gift Voucher!

All you have to do to get your voucher is click one of the links below to either join Virgin Velocity Frequent Flyer (free to join and only takes a few minutes) or submit your existing Velocity Frequent Flyer number. Either way you’ll receive a $50 Virgin Australia Holidays Gift voucher!

It's also worth noting that when you purchase virgin gift cards at the 5% discount, they take a few days to be electronically delivered. So you need to have them well in advance of booking a flight special. On the upside, once you have them, they are a much more convenient way to avoid CC fees than using POLI.

Get the book each year.

Have actually kept a record of the savings to most dinner places (25% or B1G1F), in which I will soon tally it all up. Already saved at least $1,000+.

Make sure you read the fine print, blackcat20, discounts of that amount are *usually* on rack rates.

Regards,

BD

I have the digital app and they appear to have upgraded the hotel offer to big discount rack rate or 10% off best available rate. Some decent hotels there if the offer works including Emirates Wolgan Valley :)
