EY reward problems?

I'm currently trying to book a multi-city J reward on EY (PER-AUH-JFK//BRU-AUH-PER). I have double checked availability (married segments) using the Etihad website. There's seats available in the "Guest" category for the flights I want, but the Velocity telephone agents tell me that they can't see them.

I was under the impression that if there were seats in the Guest category, they were available for Velocity redemptions. Is this wrong? Or, could it be linked to the AA devaluation (being a lot of activity before the cut-off date - and everything is patchy)?

Have you tried the HUACA method? ;)

Sometimes it's a bit hit & miss with the Velocity agents. I don't think you're the first person to have these problems. But yes, there should be availability via VA if you can see Guest Seat availability on the Etihad website.

Not sure if the AA devaluation deadline makes any difference - I guess it's also possible.

Yep. Did the HUCA method. Had a fantastic agent (best I've ever had) piece together an itinerary (not the dates I could see on the EY website, never mind...). He processed my taxes payment, and then told me the AUH-JFK segment returned an "unconfirmed" response, and the ticket failed. Apparently the CC payment will fall away in a day or two.
