whats it gonna take? to get me liking it when they send me on business trips domestically VA? why am I so pro QF, am I biased, snobby or what. I am flying tomorrow BNE-MEL return, no status no lounge access, I will be drinking ****ehoos coffee with the other civillians in the morning :( , meanwhile my WP status will be at home licking its wounds

Should have taken the status match! One thing that always reminds me how much I enjoy flying DJ is when I have to deal with QF's lack of priority boarding.

Rack up the SC's to make platinum and then fully enjoy the four complimentary upgrades, superb 330 service from MEL or SYD to PER, take advantage of the Hilton Diamond status match, and revel in the consistent priority domestic boarding. The lounges aren't bad either.

The thing is I have flown VA 12 sectors in 18 months, so will never amass the required SC's. It seems company only books VA when its short notice.

Never mind I'll suck it up ;)

What I enjoy most is that as WP I am yet to have a flight where my checked baggage isn't waiting for me by the time I get to carousel.

Where are you and what time? I'm out and about tomorrow maybe guest you into the lounge to see what you are missing :) honestly if you fly enough to want the comfort of a lounge, but not enough for status, could be worth joining the lounge

655 flight out be there bout 600.

Enjoy the higher points earn.
A last minute BNE-MEL is say $400 - thats 2000 pts as a nothing, or 4000 pts as a Plat

If on a last minute flexi fare, take advantage of the half points upgrades on at the moment.

On my SYD-BNE flights I have been paying the Saver/Flexi fare difference (often $40-50), upgrading myself on points and still ending up ahead.

You know, when I first started flying Virgin, I queued up for 25mins at checkin to give them my bags, paid for my own coffee, sat outside the lounge thinking "one day" and was seated at the back of the bus.

I worked harder and harder so I could get more work trips, climbing up the frequent flyer ranks as I flew more and more often.

A little part of my dies when I see Virgin give status away to somebody who hasn't proved their loyalty the hard way, or worse still, somebody who complains Virgin Australia won't bend over backwards to treat a "potential customer" (i.e. themselves) as they would treat a Platinum or such. It takes time, and at the start it sucks. I flew QF not too long ago and there was no way they'd even consider status matching me, or giving me any preferential treatment just because I flew with their direct competitor. (In fact, if anything, I think the crew would have spat in my coffee)

Sorry for being negative, I just don't see the point in a Qantas Platinum complaining when they don't get special treatment as a Velocity Red & Qantas Platinum on Virgin Australia.

I have status match and have only ever flown once. I am not too worried about priority boarding. What really gets me is economy passengers walking thru business and even sitting next to you waiting for the toilets. They all look and stare and you cannot have any peace and quiet time.

The inconsistency is really big. Mostly East West and VV are closed off. But flights up down are not ie Perth and 737 flights 2 hours or more north.

I have to say, I really do think (most, can't speak for all) Virgin crew are proud/happy to see passengers with a Qantas tag sitting in row 3 or wherever. I think it shows that the efforts made by the company and its staff are having some effect.

Can't like on an iPhone Liam, but I do, couldn't agree more

This has been discussed to death on here, and out of the last 10 or so flights with virgin i have done, they have shoved the rope thingy up and stopped anyone using it. In case anyone wants to go to the overheads as well, just last week in row two, opened the overhead to pop my bag in and was confronted by a possessive cs informing me that unless I was in row 2 then I couldn't use the overhead. I showed my bp and i was all good and with a smile he placed my gear in the overhead. He wasn't rude, just being protective of that bit of space, and to be honest i dont look too much like the type of person who would usually occupy that seat and was in no way offended
On the other hand as a previous gold with qantas I really hate getting shoved down the back of a 767 near the coughper. It's a two way street, choose your allianc and get the benefits of using their services, after all it is a loyalty program

Y pax passing through the J cabin is reasonable enough grounds for being upset, because DJ does promise an exclusive cabin. But I can't help but ask, if you've only flown DJ once, how can you have experienced Y pax looking at you on flights both east and north of Perth?
