I booked a Flexible fare for SYD-BNE the other day. I took advantage of a PE Taster upgrade. My Velocity Account shows the trip as "Not for Earn".Whilst I wouldn't expect to get points as if it were a paid PE flight, I'm surprised I don't get the points for the originally booked Flexible fare. Is this normal? I've used the PE Taster prior to the recent changes to earning and always received points/status credits for the originally booked fare in the past. Is this part of the program changes that I didn't understand or is there a mistake?

You should get what was originally booked, I would give velocity a call, little things like that happen in their system from time to time.

I took a P/E taster last sunday to sample the J seats on the A330 on a MEL-SYD leg. I had points come through as per the original booking but the SCs were for a business leg. It probably makes no major difference to me as i'm on track for about 12-1500 SCs this year so unless platinum is a lot more than that my SCs don't help me much.

Out of curiosity, did you upgrade using points or cash? I'm not sure if it makes a difference but I used cash because the flight was on a sunday so points were not an option.

I have had the same experience as 777, I got the Business Status Credits on a paid by cash upgrade using PE Taster!

I was hoping to upgrade with cash, but the call centre staffer seemed to really struggle with that concept. As I was trying to sort out whilst I had five minutes between meetings, I decided to do it using points as she seemed capable fulfilling that request.

A big thankyou to Velocity Rewards who has made my problems go away!* Thanks VR!!

* Well, at least this particular problem. As my wife would attest, there are plenty of problems that are well beyond VR's many and varied powers...

Slightly off topic..but is there a particular ph no. to ring to book the tester? I've heard its only available 3hrs to 45 mins before dep. is this correct?
