*Note that these benefits are "Coming Soon"!

Velocity members will soon be able to pool Points or Points and Status Credits with members of their family.

You pay for the ticket, so you should receive the Points and Status Credits, enabling you to receive the rewards you want or the level of membership you are striving for much sooner.

This will be available to all Velocity members coming soon.

PLUS

Members shouldn't be penalised for reduced flying due to family commitments, so we will allow our Silver, Gold and Platinum members to pause their membership for a six month period while on maternity leave (applies to both parents).
This way you don't lose the benefits you've worked so hard to achieve.

Will these be benefits you personally see value in utilising?

The pooling of SCs is a massive differentiator from QF. I have a reasonable number of SCs parked in my wife and kids QF accounts, and they are absolutely no use to anyone as they don't fly enough to get off the bottom status level. Would be great if I could move them into my account they way I can with their points.

I can imagine attaining the 1000 SC VP requirement (800 VP requal) and later on donate additional SC to a family member so they may attain a status level for when they travel alone etc.

I think that is a great idea.

You could also look to gain a companion Gold membership should, as a Platinum member, you earn 1500 SC's in the member benefit period.
As well as "Companion Platinum" at 2000 SC's.

So does that mean I can gift my wife Platinum and then pool some SCs for my son to get Gold?

I really like the status pooling because I do the majority of flying for work with one or two family trips per year. Now the 50 SCs or so earned by other family members won't go to waste.

Hi VFF,

I posted this in the main thread but it was probably after you knocked off for the day, and it's now lost behind another 20 pages of posts.

I was wondering if the pooling also affects the "eligible sectors flown" as well as the SCs and points?

This would be a massive benefit if it did.

And to follow on from that, will the SC/points "pooling" be retrospective? Be nice to think the kids SCs might go toward me doing a tilt at Plat rather than being lost to prosperity.

Any timelines (rough timelines)? I've got fares to book and now I'm all in limbo

Whats the restrictions on the pooling on status credits with family members? Is it only immediate family, whats the age limit etc?

I'm not sure if that can be answered, but I am interested in the answer as well. I've got some self funded family travel to book, if I can pool SCs and if this will be back-dated (and/or include bookings made before the announcement but occuring after) then I'll book VA, otherwise I might just burn through some of my largeish stack of QF points.

Status pooling within immediate family is a great idea and would be a major reason for me to choose VA over QF. As it stands I buy four airfares for family holidays but only the SCs I earn really count for anything as my wife and kids never earn enough in a year to get to a worthwhile level.

I'd like to see people buying four seats on one flight given the option of being treated the same for SC purposes as someone buying one seat on four flights.
