Hi guys, updating you all that Velocity members should be able to select their seats at time of purchase, and that the errors that were being thrown up, should be resolved.
If you do have any instances where it doesn't work, please let us know here.
Thanks again for your patience.

Many thanks. So far so good this week for flight tomorrow for seat selection. JK

That's good - next step is for online selection Post booking) so I don't need to annoy your busy customer service agents ...

I have modified the title to be more specific about what was resolved.

FYI, I'm getting "Online seat selection is unavailable" when trying to book VA262 CBR-MEL on an E90 in J.

Great stuff... thank you for the update.
Now to just ensure that Row 3 is reserved for Plats (& their travelling buddies) and not throw it open to all and sundry at checkin!

Wishful thinking I suspect... but I think I speak for the majority of Plats on here... that would be a REAL enhancement!

Thats great - any news on when we will be able to view/see our own confirmed bookings on the VA and Velocity web sites? PNR's Reservation numbers and Velocity numbers all rejected for me this morning (in the Velocity Lounge). :)

With this appearing - can we also change this error message so that it gives some clue about what the actual problem is?

Thanks for the update VFF

One minor issue I have and not sure if it is a commonly experienced one is that as a velocity platinum, I can select the front emergency overwing exit row seating on a 737 at the time of booking but if I forget to choose it there I cannot select it when doing on line checkin later even though the seats are not occupied/allocated. Is this normal?

I have a lot of flights booked for me, and when someone else is making the booking (and hence not logging on with my velocity password) they don't get the access to the seats suitable to my status tier, and the seats available is limited to those of a no status pax. Will this be looked at as well?

I just made a few dummy bookings without logging in, and after correctly adding my Velocity number to the "Guest Details" page (but not logging in) I could allocate seats in row 3.

FYI booked a few flights last night and 4 out of 5 E90 J flights wouldnt let me select seats....

I could not select E90 J class seats either. Its also frustrating that you can't change your seat under 'manage my bookings' after you have booked online. I like to be able to view the seat map regularly prior to departure to improve my seat selection.

Ditto same problem.

There does appear to be an inability to view bookings online if the bookings are made through offline sources (such as the contact centre, etc).
The team are on the case for this now.
And yes, we've requested for the error message to be modified.

Thanks for the response. That explains why I haven't be able to manage/see any of my bookings since the Sabre rollout. All of my bookings are done by a corporate travel agent - I would presume that they don't book all their flights over the phone but would be happy to be proven wrong. For what its worth all my pre-sabre bookings could be viewed online without a problem. The same corporate travel agents can generate itineraries with PNRs, and booking reference numbers, link my QF and VA FF number and I can see all my VA/QF and other airlines in www.tripcase.com and www.virtuallythere.com - the VA call centre can find my bookings so we know that they exist- its just the VA web site that cannot manage or recognize bookings made by corporate travel agents.

Its a major design flaw of passengers also only being able to select seats at time of booking, I am pretty sure my travel agent does not want to and could not know the seat preferences of all their clients so why not allow the booking to be made, paid for and then the passenger being able to select their own seat? After all - before Sabre came out I was able to do that easily, now I cannot. If you can't manage your VA bookings then that makes it a bit difficult to select seats online does it not? I am assuming this will be looked at as well - as I am sure that your Call Centre is getting sick of lots of passengers calling them up just to select/request a seat.

I'm taking the position that it's currently easier to use www.virtuallythere.com to review VA bookings (of course, assuming you actually know the PNR) .. it should load 100% of VA reservations and basically the same level of functionality in managing the booking as the VA website (that is to say .. none).

Doesn't seem to give the option when booking using the VA app on iPhone......well I didn't stumble across it anyway!

Agreed. I had independantly came to the same conclusion a few days ago as well! If it were possible to do onlline seat selection on www.virtuallythere.com then I would just delete the VA bookmark and just use the Velocity web site to check points & SCs, until VA can get their own web site to talk to Sabre properly.
