VA codeshares on SQ - seat selection/exit rows?

Hi all,

Anyone know if there's any way to do seat selection or grab preferred seating/exit rows on a VA codeshare of an SQ flight?

None that I know of, beyond calling them. Even though VA elite get 'benefits', you'll also have to remind SQ staff about these every step of the way on your trip too.

That's unfortunate, hope my corporate TA can figure something out! Desperately hoping I don't get stuck with a middle seat given VA will only allow check in at the airport, and the SQ passengers will have been checking in online for 48 hours at that point.

I've actually found SQ (on SQ codes at least) pretty good at looking after me as a VA elite. In fact I seem to be consistently invited into contract lounges I shouldn't actually have access to!

So, looks like even after calling the (genuinely helpful!) VA platinum folks and them being able to give me the SQ booking reference, there is no way to select seats or pay for an exit row... I have a horrible feeling I will be stuck in a middle seat, and never, ever, booking a VA code share again - in fact it looks like a bunch of middle seats have been pre-selected for me.

VA. if anyone's listening, not a great way to get people booking through you!

A bit left field... but try using the SQ booking reference in the SQ mobile app.

My employer's pathetic travel agency booked me on SQ flights (although on SQ numbers) and in response to my request for aisle seats kindly booked me into A seats for all four sectors.

SQ's website told me that seat selection was unavailable, but using the SQ Android app I was able to successfully select seats.
 
Ahah! I think i"m getting somewhere with the SQ call centre with the SQ booking reference.

Thanks Fruitcake, will give that a try next if this go-around doesn't work out!
 
For anyone running into this issue in future - the SQ call centre (with the SQ booking reference given to me by VA) was able to assign some aisle seats and put in a request for more to be freed up (fingers crossed), but the SQ iPhone app wouldn't let me do anything... I think it's been updated since the last time I used it for stuff like this, maybe they have put better checks in :( ?
