I received the following from my friend. He said he received a survey about EDR and FlyBuys and was asked for opinions about the preferred name for the new rewards program - "WoW", "myWoolies" or the existing "Everyday Rewards".

I don't care about the name changes - but the proposed other changes are interesting. It doesn't say if points will still be transferred to QFF but looks like it will try to match what Flybuys offers.

The demise of one of the Gems in earning QFF points easily, particularly if the Everyday Rewards CC goes too.... ???

No no, sorry, it's an Enhancement :) Yes, another one for the list....

The one point per dollar from scratch sounds good. I hope they stay with QFF. I'm guessing they will devalue the points however so the one point per dollar from $1 may not work out as good a deal.

Thanks for posting the information.

Fascinating news as I earn lots of points at WW for QANTAS FF.

You'd hope the would keep the option for points to QFF but I expect devalue if pts earned for everyday. The credit card should be safe however as it's hard not to make money off them with the commissions.

WW don't drop QFF pts or you will see a drop in sales I'd imagine (at least from me).

Interesting as I earn quite a few points from EDR (I really like the bonus point offers and usually get at least one offer per week). I'm not sure if I would keep shopping at Woolies if it changes too much.

With this news, I'm going to switch back to petrol at WW Caltex and collect as many points as I can at 2ppL while I can.

Sounds like the cost focused management have moved across to WOW, its been known for a while that they are not happy with the cost of the points scheme but I seriously doubt they realise how much its helped them hold up their sales against Westfarmers.

You are kidding right? You think you have a better idea of the performance of the program than those inside Woolworths running the program have?

There is a difference between what WOW want from the EDR scheme (hooking the customer into loyalty at low cost) versus what the customer wants from the scheme (maximise rewards for loyalty).

Oc course, but the point is they know their costs, how it has performed against of objectives etc. markis10 won't, and will just be looking at it from the markis10 point of view. WOW will look at what works for the majority of its customers.

Not really. He just made the point it's costing them a lot for the scheme.

I was making the point it cost more than the anticipated. Business planning with WOW of late in that area has been woeful, masters being a very good example where their business plans have resulted in a blowout far beyond initial business plans, maybe they should made a pitch for officeworks where they would at least have access to cheap calculators.

He said " but I seriously doubt they realise how much its helped them hold up their sales against Westfarmers".. I bet they know exactly how it has been helping them.

Sometimes companies really don't appreciate what loyalty means for their customer base. They assume the customer will behave one way but then there are "unintended consequences".

The one point per dollar from scratch sounds good. .

Yes that would be most welcome. Particularly for me as a I have a WOW very close and so is used for small pruchases like milk and bread...as well as the larger shops.

Very much hope that the bonus promos and the like are not "enhanced" downwards..or even that QFF is entirely removed!!! EDR has been good for my as I have averaged over 4 points per$ spent since inception due to promos, and engineering my affairs to attract more of them.

It is not my biggest earner, but none the less is one of those healthy earns, with which their slice of helps to end up make a yearly very big Points Cake, even of QFF is my non-preferred airline Program.

What we need is for Virgin to become *A to boost the FF competition.

There are definite enhancement tipping points pushing customers too far.
Having been a management consultant in the transport sector, we often give management far too much credit for the amount of information they disseminate prior to making change.
Will never forget Ansett's introduction of an integrated sales call centre network cutting 10% of the call centre staff to pay for the system. The system data kept under wraps which I probably wasn't supposed to see showed a 12% call drop out rate which was farcical pre-internet.

I wouldn't be too unhappy if EDR lost the linkage to QFF points.

We once valued QFF points to buy business class travel internationally - those days are gone now with Qantas.

Just try to get a J seat to the USA and don't even bother about upgrades .

I am not elite in the QFF program which no doubt is why I am missing out.

Maybe WOW would look at some American cc programmes which offer as well as points, priority treatment in various areas of the travel experience - eg check in , seating , upgrades etc.

I accrue plenty of QFF points thru EDR and their MC but lack any priority to use them - what do you think?

I had approached EDR some week or so ago in relation to the above issue - here is the contents of the email . No response as yet.

Hi,

If you ever got to the stage you reviewed your reward programme, I wouldn't be too unhappy if EDR lost the linkage to QFF points. Better still I would prefer your consideration to improving your point’s value to non Qantas elites.

My family once valued QFF points to get business class travel internationally - those days are gone now with Qantas - just no seats available. Even trying to fly up front in the OneWorld carriers is problematic if you can actually access the award booking site – eg Malaysian and JAL are not even options on the Qantas award booking site!

Just try to get a J seat to the USA or to London – you can’t and don't even bother about upgrades (processed on the day of travel if you are not elite and in my experience not much luck).
Sure economy seats are gettable internationally but I am too old to sit in a tight seat down the back for 15 hours – eg Dallas to Brisbane). Business class seats are also available domestically if you book far enough ahead but no luck Brisbane to Perth of indeed to New Zealand.
Which brings me to my main point – QFF points are so much more valuable if you have some form of elite status with Qantas. I am not elite which no doubt is why I am missing out. But it does degrade the advantages of earning QFF points thru your program.

Suggestion – offer your cardmembers a chance of getting a higher priority with Qantas and thus be able to take real advantage of our hard earned QFFs. Example below *
Maybe Woolies would look at some American Credit Card programmes which offer, as well as points, elite status or the equivalent- priority treatment in various areas of the travel experience - eg check in, seating, upgrades etc.

The bottom line: I accrue plenty of QFF points thru EDR and Woolies MC but lack any priority to use them on Qantas. I would like the program to keep going but some way to achieve priority access or elite status would make earning your points so much more. How would you do it? – minimum spend, higher priced card who knows.
What do you think? How about some access to Qantas elite status and or benefits for your card holders who spend enough or pay extra for an upgraded card?
