Was in "manage my booking" on BA, the seatmaps have me a bit confused.

Listed on 777 from LHR-AUH and we've been allocated 22AB and CMB suggests this is "exit row", and that it's laid out 3/3/3.

Now, using seatguru, the 777 is 3/3/3 in econ. but in the two "known" configs, 22 is NOT an exit, nor is it Y, it's Y+, which is 2 then aisl for AB.

Similar on 319 and 320 LHR-STR and MUC-LHR the rows we're been allocated on CMB suggest exit rows, but that's not what seatguru says.

Now, clearly, one would expect BA to be correct, but it's the 777 in particular that has me confused.

Are BA refitting the seating in their 777s? Any thoughts on what's happening with the seating here (free upgrade to Y+ would be nice!)

Yep, A and F available (I is the only 0, rest 9s)

I dont get the layout as it had 22 as the second forward row (i guess it may have been blocking 15-20 from view, it would only go forward to 20 which had availability in BC,DEF,HJ with A and K blocked (bassinet).

Edit:

Availability by Booking Class (by class)ABCDEFHIJKLMNQRSVY

You have a conundrum there. Expert flyer shows 4 class service to AUH and row 22 as exit in Y. Does not accord with BA seatmap on there website. Seatexpert does not accord with either layout as it shows 21 as the exit row but seatexprt and guru are sometimes inaccurate. I will go out on a limb and say EF is correct and the others are all wrong, you have the exit. (but don't hold me to it);)

21 is the front row but only 3 seats in centre seat block, none on side seat blocks, these are exits.

Yep, must be 4 class with new config. I'd suggest BA and expertflyer more accurate than other suggestions.

Inserted pic of seatmap. Hope that's correct then!

Is there anywhere that shows bassinet positions on BA 777s?

I just added babygr to our booking and BA initially reallocated us to 11B for me and 15A for mrssimngr (we have now been put back together).

I am not sure the "little" feller will actually fit in the bassinet as he is already 66cm long and 7+KG (at 3 1/2 months and being 1 month premature )

It a new configuration.

According to this FT thread, it's the "A config" and mainly used on M/E flights:

BA 777 World Traveller Seat Map Questions?

Here's a seat map:

British Airways / B777-200 (Config A)

Note 17 First Class seats showing on E/F - presumably a special high Premium configuration for those petro-cashed up denizens of the middle east.

Can't see you guys in 22A/B though ...

(BTW, what fare class are you travelling - as a QF PS you would not ordinarily be able to pre-select seating - is your co-traveller Sapphire/Emerald?)

Ah, that would fit with the config the BA seat selector is showing (row 21 and back for econ).

I'm PS, mrsdoc PS with QP (paid).

It's L class (RTW).

When you say "cant see", you mean that we'll get gazumped by a OW Emerald? Or you cant see 22AB allocated?

I was surprised BA seat selector let us in at all, let alone choosing exit rows!

I can PM you the dates if you'd like to look up exact flight?

You can have a look yourself.

A useful tip on how to check seat maps online without resorting to paid subscriptions to Expert Flyer et al....

  • Go to www.expedia.com (make sure it is the US site)
  • Find your specific flight on Expedia.
  • Hit the "Preview Seat Availability" button or "Seat Preview" option and you should get a seat map with the taken and available seats.

Note, seats in economy, business and first cabins can be previewed, but premium economy may be excluded.

Thanks serfty, that's a great method.

I looked back -- the date you were looking was wrong.

I put in the actual date in and 22ab are "not available". Excellent.
