Blue 743 with a red tail?

I frequent AVALON a lot, and for quite a number of years now, this blue 747-300(?) has been sitting on the tarmac in various states of repair...

Is this a mechanics training aircraft - does anyone know? If it was, I would expect the aircraft to be sign written to get MAX exposure...

That plane is VH-EBU - Nalanji Dreaming .

It was flown to Avalon a few years ago and basically scrapped. No idea what they are planning to do with it.
 
So that's the 3rd aboriginal-arts painted airframe then? Only 2 are in service right?

You wonder if its awaiting a buyer?

You wonder why it's not parked in Mojave - perhaps it's a "spares cannibalisation" plane (my term for it) for the maintenance on the remainder of the fleet (which is largely done at AVV for the 744s)
 
The same sort of question again.

In SYD the other day we saw an all white 74X (probably 742). The tail and labels had been painted out. Does anyone have any ideas who it may belong to :?:
It landed as we boarded and then was parked toward the roadway end as we taxied.

I am not sure how to quantify the order (i.e. 3rd). I believe it was in fact the second one painted. The first was VH-OJB as he original Wanala Dreaming. This aircraft is now back to regular Qantas livery and VH-OEJ is now carrying the Wanala Dreaming scheme.

I only managed one flight on VH-EBU, which was a BNE-SYD "international" sector at the start of a DONE4 not long before she was retired.

It was used for parts to keep the other 747-338s operating long beyond their original planned retirement schedule. As there is no way it can fly again, it can either be broken down for scrap, used for parts for other airlines still operating 743 who may want to purchase second hard components, or for engineering training.
 
The aircraft is ex Qantas 747-300 VH-EBU. It has been at Avalon for some years and for a long time was a source of spare parts. It also was the Nalinji Dreaming aircraft, hence the blue paint. As her five B747-300 sisters have been retired to the desert in Arizona or already scrapped it's fate is sealed and it will broken up at Avalon in the near future.
 
This is going back awhile now, like the '80's but who remembers when TAA had 'Central Australian' livery depicting Ayers Rock on the tail of their Boeing 727-276 VH-TBK with the 'Trans-Australia Airlines'?

There was also the DC-9 with a 'Coral Islander' Great Barrier Reef theme which I think was VH-TJL.

Below is a picture of QF 737-800 VH-VXB "Yananyi Dreaming" which operated DRW/PER as QF793 last Wed 09 Dec 2009.

Also known as the 'Vomit Comet' due to its not-particularly-pleasing colour (and resembling, well, vomit).

I'd be very happy to see another Nalanji Dreaming. I thought it was actually prettier then VH-OEJ (Wunalla Dreaming). That said, Wunulla is probably better as it's the 'Red' outback colour and all.

Would be great to see an A380 in special livery. Wonder if QF will bother though.

I remember it being banned from flying into Honkers as it upset the 'spirits' - really
