PLEASE INCLUDE DATE, FLIGHT NUMBER, ORIGIN & DESTINATION IN ALL REQUESTS
>>>> ADDED BY ADMIN (6 Sept 2010) <<<<

Background to this thread
We have noticed an increase in the posting of questions about seat availability on specific flights. These are all valid questions and we all appreciate the efforts our members go to to provide answers.

The only drawback is that our forums can become "cluttered" with specific questions about availability on specific flights. This tends to reduce the overall usability of our site.
We have therefore created this new consolidated thread where you can ask questions about seat availability on specific flights. Hopefully, this will reduce clutter and improve useability.

Guidelines for posting in this thread
Please post questions about availability of specific flights or upgrade probability in this new consolidated thread. Be sure to include the airline, flight number, date, origin and destination and any other relevant detail.

When answering questions, please include the original question. This will assist in readability and management of the thread.

Thanks!

See this thread for hints on how to read loadings:

If looking for, say Qantas points upgrades, look for A class for First, mid to high D or any I class for Business and any R for Premium Economy.

Look for the most expensive category of the cabin YOU are currently booked in as being sold out e.g. J0 to first, W0 to Business & Y0 to PE for increased op-up chances. Also, look for availability on the discount premium buckets (A, P, I, D, U, T & Z inventories).

Conversely, look for high numbers in the discount economy buckets (N, O, Q, E & X inventories) for reduced op-up chances.

Seat maps can be a VERY rough guide but note that just because a seat is not showing as allocated does not mean that seat hasn't been sold. Not everyone pre-selects seats.

Original thread title: update on QF93 on 12 sept

Sorry to thread share, but thought better than starting another thread (mods can move if required) but can I also ask for

Re: update on QF93 on 12 sept

QF15: J8 C7 D6 I0 W5 R5 T0 Y9 B9 H9 K9 M9 L2 V9 S9 N1 G0 E0.
J, W seatmap
Y seatmap

QF16: J9 C9 D3 I2 W0 R0 T0 Y9 B9 H9 K9 M9 L9 V9 S9 N4 G0 E0
J, W seatmap
Y seatmap

(I'd be pretty happy with PE on those flights - J seating).

Thanks very much Ewing. I havent requested an upgrade from Y+ as I did realise it's J seats, just trying to judge how full it's going to be (morbid curiosity). Gee it's annoying that seatcounter is down which is why I have to keep asking for loadings on here.

Looks pretty full in Y+ on the way home, but wide open the rest of the plane. Weird, maybe the masses are catching on that this sector has as you mention Y+ in J seats! It is a friday night flight, so i'd expect it to be full.

Edit: Looking at the QF15 seatmap, all seats seem full (with perhaps bassinets blocked rather than full), but that leaves 4 Y+ seats with 5 for sale, maybe hoping for an oversell). Thanks again, interesting. I'd love to work in yield management, so interesting the possible permutations/combinations for each flight!

Heck I'll jump on the bandwagon, QF9 for 11th sep. Not too concerned about upgrade chances since I'm in 80A.

Wow, chockers. MEL-LHR:
F2 A2 J0 C0 D0 I0 W0 R0 T0 Y0 B0 H0 K0 M0 L0 G0 E0

If we check the separate segments:
MEL-SIN:
F2 A2 J0 C0 D0 I0 W0 R0 T0 Y1 B0 H0 K0 M0 L0 G0 E0

SIN-LHR:
F5 A5 J4 C0 D0 I0 W0 R0 T0 Y2 B0 H0 K0 M0 L0 G0 E0

Seatmaps for MEL-LHR:

F, J, W seatmap
Y seatmap

Edit: check your seatmap because you've now got a 744 and don't have 80A anymore. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.

Thanks heaps for that! But in a very happy coincidence for the day, I'm an idiot and I'm actually flying the 12th, still the a380 on my booking :) edit: only flying the MEL-SIN leg

QF785 9 September 2010.

Qantas website seat selection is telling me it is a 738. The Qantas iphone app is saying 734. Is there anyway to confirm the scheduled operating aircraft type.

I'm currently in row 11 which would be really good if it is a 734. Otherwise, I would be looking to get into 4. what to do.

The seat map indicates that it's a 738, but if SYD-ADL is anything like flights out of CBR - then 734s and 738s are frequently swapped (I find that before a 734 becomes a 738, rows 4 and 5 will often become Y).

Here's the seat map:

That's terrific, thanks. Maybe I'll move back to row 9, especially with those X's up front. I was mainly concerned about the discrepancy between the 2 sources.

so far this year I've only had 2 unexpected 734s, iirc, on this route.

You can also use www.checkmytrip.com to get a seat map to ascertain configuration; it's not as accurate as E/F in relation to allocation.

Note that the E/F seat map posted by Ewing is available if you put a WP FF number into the E/F account profile. An SG would see many more seats blocked.

Yes, I should have clarified - apologies.

medhead, this is with an SG number (I can check WP, SG and PS):

But yes, EF is definitely worth it. The seat alerts feature is awesome - I've had 100% hit rate for the front row of Y with it :)

(or maybe I should say that's it's bad and keep it to myself) :D

medhead, is that you that's appeared in 9C since before?

Not at all; Done it myself.

It's still generally only WP's who have those seats open up > 24 hours out in any case.

Wouldn't it be as simple as if row 29 is the last row then a 738 or if row 25 is the last row then a 734?

Or are you saying the seat selection option is different on the iPhone app to what it is on the Qantas website?

medhead, is that you that's appeared in 9C since before?

Yes I moved from 11c to 9c. I'm on the phone now so can't really see the seat map differences too well.

I was kind if aware of the differences in EF as I have done the free trial. I assumed that was a WP seat map as it was different to what I could see. It is very helpful to have that comparison as I while I only see blocked seats in seat selection I now see that probably only some of those seats are actually taken.

JohnK yes I have different aircraft types between the qantas website and the qantas iPhone app. So it is a question of playing my usual game and work forward slowly over the next couple of days. Or stick to a row that I can select now that will become an exit row on a 734.

I've decided to do the hard work and ignore the iPhone app.

3 more flights to platinum so EF could really pay off.

re: Flight Availability/Loadings & Upgrade Probability Help Desk

Views on J-F upgrade clearing on QF31 8/9 (ie tomorrow) - flying the whole way SYD-LHR - ???
Although guess I will find out shortly (T-24 in 9 hrs)

EF shows
SYD-LHR F0 A0 J2 C0 D0 I0 W0 R0 T0 Y9 B9 H9 K9 M9 L9 S9 Q9 G0 E0
SYD-SIN F0 A0 J9 C5 D5 I5 W0 R0 T0 Y9 B9 H9 K9 M9 L9 V9 S9 N9 Q9 G0 E8
SIN-LHR F3 A3 J0 C0 D0 I0 W0 R0 T0 Y9 B9 H9 K9 M9 L9 V9 S9 G0 E5

EF seatmap shows two unallocated F seats.
F no longer appears for sale on Qantas website. Had been F3-5 over last few days but has suddenly dropped as J went to zero as well.

Interesting that there seem to be an awful lot of spare Y on the flight, yet the premium cabins are jam packed.
Particularly for a mid-week flight - picked to try and max upgrade chances.

Re: Seatmap QF11 SYD-LAX 9th September 2010

Not so much an availability question, rather a seat allocation query.

QF11 SYD-LAX 09/09/10

We have upgrade requests in and should have an answer after 1.05pm today, however in the event we stay where we booked I am wondering if a particular seat has a backside in it or is blocked.

I am in 52K (WP/PG status) and the other half is in 52H (was SG via PG but has now hit WP on her own merit). 52J has been empty up until yesterday, however now it is occupied. Have looked on the QF seat map & checkmytrip and it looks like someone might have squeezed in there...

It doesnt seem to be a full flight....

Has seat blocking been thrown out for WP's (especially 2 in one row of 3 seats)

(Yes, I know, it is an open seat... etc etc etc)
