Lounge Access in CDG Paris when flying Qantas code share to Adelaide

As part of my education in being a Qantas club member, to my disbelief I have just found that there is no reciprocal arrangement to access a lounge at CDG when homeward bound to Adelaide.

Apart from the obvious feeling of why Qantas would think it acceptable to take a booking ( yes it is code share with Emirates but still a Qantas booking) but not provide the expected access to a lounge, is there anyone able to suggest if a day pass can be purchased for a lounge near the departing terminal.

i have contacted Qantas to see if they might be able to suggest a solution but without success, although I did get some assistance in that I was able to ascertain, that the flight departs from Terminal 2,and that there is AA lounge within close proximity. An enquiry to AA as to whether a day pass can be purchased has yet to be responded to.( and I don't want buy a pass only to find that the lounge is another terminal that is miles away from where we need to be.

Anyone else been in this situation and has found a solution ?

Yes in the past you were able to use the BA lounges in Europe, but that has changed.

From what I can gather, it looks like you need to be on an AA flight out of CDG to gain access through use of AA membership. I am not sure you can gain access through AA, but I may be wrong.

The harsh reality is that the Qantas Club is not what it used to be. There were the comments made by AJ that no member would be disadvantaged by the EK deal, however compared to a couple years prior QP members don't have the level of lounge access compared to previous.

The need for SC's. The lounges exSYD and exMEL. To fly one stop into EU with QF at least part of the way on an A380. Flying QF will see your status benefits recognised. There are reasons.

Unfortunately as a Qantas Club member you are limited to the lounges listed on the QF website

Yes in the past you were able to use the BA lounges in Europe, but that has changed.

Even that arrangement never extended to CDG because it wasn't a BA lounge, just a BA-associated lounge. I don't think that has changed.

Even when I was OWS through QF I spent time sitting at departure gates at CDG when on BA flights because of no lounge access for Y pax.

When travelling with American Airlines, as a Qantas Club member you and a guest are welcome at American Airlines Admirals Club lounges. Simply present your Qantas Club card together with your boarding pass at the lounge reception. Both you and your guest need to be travelling together further that day on a flight marketed and operated by the partner airline whose lounge you wish to visit.

Flying one stop cdg-ADL negates the lounges you mentioned and the A380.

I was really just wanting to know if anyone had successfully sorted out an alternative .

It's been a couple of days since my query to AA regarding if I could purchase a day pass for AA lounge access ( I am an AA FF member, which I know you need to be in order to do this) so I just thought there may have been others in a similar predicament who managed to come up with a solution.

I had been told previously that in the USA you could enter their lounges if you had a Admirals Club pass even if you did not have a boarding pass, but I have not had that verified and it may not apply to their overseas operations, so hence my query on this post.

You could try priority pass, which allows one off paid lounge access. There is a lounge in Terminal 2A, Air Canada lounge, but no shower apparently. VIP Airport Lounge Details

I'm not sure about that lounge but the priority pass lounge at KUL allowed one off paid access to anyone.

NB This suggestion really comes down to how much you're prepared to pay for a lounge. As best I can work out it would be US$99 for membership and then US$27 per person access the lounge. Priority pass membership is included with a Citibank Signature Visa card, but that might include an annual fee. There was a fee free for life offer recently but I'm not sure if that is still available.

There is no "terminal 2" at CDG - there are terminals 2A, 2C, 2D, 2E, 2F and 2G. It is probably worth checking whether your flight and the AA lounge are in the same one before you spend money on a lounge pass. I can't recall whether you can freely move airside between those terminals or whether you need a boarding pass for that terminal before they will let you through.

So all I need to find out is

a) is the AA lounge within reasonable proximity to Terminal 2C and can access be had to same ?

b) if AA will sell a day pass without the need of a boarding pass ?

hopefully I can report back on a) when I hear back from AA

Thanks for that Medhead, that's food for thought on future trips where I might wish to avail myself of this on more than one occasion, but having just forked out for 2 yrs Qantas Club membership in the anticipation of undertaking a few more trips now that I am retired, I don't think it'd be worthwhile for me in this case. Very much though appreciation the suggestion

I agree that it's probably not worthwhile. Just mentioned it to let you know about the option.

I wonder if there are any short stay hotel rooms available around CDG. Perhaps something like that might suit your needs.

and now having had a brainwave and asking the concierge service available with my Visa credit card, I have been told...

"Based on our research, we have confirmed that you can certainly access the lounge without any extra security process as Terminal 2A and 2C are all in the same security area."

There's definitely a Cathay lounge at cdg. It's upstairs. I certainly always used to be able to access it as a qantas emerald (flew every week out of cdg on BA flights at one point).

Not sure if it would work for qantas club but you could always try! (And for gold/plats, it's much nicer than the other lounges.)

QP flying EK wouldn't elicit access unless CX were trying to tempt the member over to CX.
