Has anyone got an idea how to maximise our status. I am Qantas Plat. Later this year we are flying Virgin / Singapore / Lufthansa to Europe in Business. Then a bit later again Virgin to Vanuatu.

I'd like to get best status I can out of trip probably trying to maximise Velocity. Any idea how.

Have you looked at doing a status match to one of the Star Alliance airlines? I think it was Turkey Airlines (or someone in that region) that were doing an easy match. You can then credit to them to keep the top status.

Welcome to AFF Sean Judge.

If you want to maximise Virgin status, the trick would seem to be to get as many of your flights as possible on a VA code-share (ie a VA flight number), or failing that, on a SQ code share (for the LH sectors).

However if you have already booked flights, and they have variously SQ and LH flight numbers, it probably too late to do this. You will still earn on SQ, but not on LH. Join SQ Kris flyer and credit the LH flights to that, then at least you can get some SQ points, and transfer them to Velocity.

RooFlyer's advice on where to credit the flights is very sound.

Moindardt is correct in that Turkish Airlines is offering a status match at the moment. QF Platinum would earn you Turkish/Star Alliance Gold. If you were flying economy, I would suggest getting one. However as you are in Business anyway, the benefits would be mostly superfluous to you.

Sorry for my ignorance but I an QF gold this year and seek advice how to get status match with Turkish Air?

Still vaguely on/t ... is the TK status match still on? I note the ABT article is from May last year.

Yes, but it has changed a bit. The status is now only matched for an initial period of 4 months. You then need to take an international TK flight within that 4 month period to have the status extended to 1 year. It then takes 15,000 miles to extend for another year after that.

Thanks. Taking some TK domestic flights in a month or so. Have my Avianca Brazil Diamond status in the bookings, but a genuine TK card might be more re-assuring. On the other hand, maybe I should hold off on the QF plat status match for when I might need it again and be taking a TK int'l flight.

IMHO there's no point getting a status match if you already have Star Alliance status. Save it for if/when you actually need it.
