Any suggestions for the cheapest flights to Hong Kong in December? What route? Airline? Website to book from? Etc?

East coast should tell you that it is from anywhere on the east cost. Likely one of the capital cities. <redacted>

Try something like expedia.com.au for your route and dates. Try different combinations - MEL is sometimes cheaper than SYD for example

Could well be that Air Asia via KL may be your cheapest option...

Australian east coast.
NoName,

With all due respect if you wish people to give you realistic help with this you need to give them reasonable information to help you.

The East Coast of Australia is pretty long. HBA-HKG is 4967NM whereas CTN-HKG is only 3350NM.

Could you be a little more specific :?:

Still way too wide - services to HKG are not the same for every city so in order for help to be forthcoming you will need to be more precise, that includes dates as well given its December when prices go 4X on certain dates.

I mentioned the capital cities. Not sure how much my specific you need it to be. BNE, SYD or MEL - how's that?

Dates - fair point. Depart anywhere from 1st-4th. Return anywhere from 9th-11th.

Also consider China Southern (CZ) into Guangzhou (CAN), then the cross-border train into HKG.
(note will mean a Chinese visa/APEC card as I don't believe you can use the 72hr transit exemption unless plane-plane)

Any east coast city to Bali-DPS on jetstar then Hong Kong Airlines/Express DPS-HKG.

Enjoy!

I found 4 December 2013 ex MEL at 1100 on PR MNLx arrive HKG 2110. The MEL - MNL - MEL legs should be on a modern Boeing 777-300ER.

Return is on 10 December at 1320, again change in MNL, arrive MEL + 1 0800.

Fare is US$996 return including all taxes and charges. PR is a full service airline.

I can see QF 29 MEL - HKG on 02/12 returning QF 30 HKG - MEL on the 10/12 for $788 on the Qantas web site. Only dates I banged in and there is availability during the current sale.

I can't believe that people are actually trying to help the extremely rude OP! Posters like this should be ignored IMHO.

It's a credit to the members wanting to help though. Not everyone has started off smoothly on AFF, but given the chance to adjust you never know what you could learn off the newer members
