Hi to all the knowledgable AFF folks,
i recently booked a flight on United using life miles for SYD-SFO-YYC.
My flight for the SFO-YYC (13:36-17:21) sector says UA1564 however when searching MGA-IAH comes up for that flight number.
the flight has been ticketed and when I log on to United it has the flight there however I am unable to allocate a seat as it says it isn't available.
is this just a flight number change? Should I be concerned?
Thanks gogo.

UA often use the same flight number for multiple sectors in the same day. I wouldn't be worried.

When you Google UA1564 today it comes up as a LAX/SFO flight. Are you actually loggin in to the UA site using their own pnr number that AV LM gave you? What date is the travel for?

I had a paid economy flight YYC/IAH/SJD and I was only able to allocate seats for the first sector as all the regular economy seats from the exit row back had been allocated ahead of time. Sometimes their system will let you pre-allocate economy plus seats (first row of whY back to the exit rows) ahead of time via reservations otherwise it will let you do it at the airport kiosks. Ultimately they have to allocate those seats to people without charging them the extra if the flight is full.

We had our TK Miles & Smiles freq flyer number (*A Gold) in the booking which no doubt assisted us getting preferred seating.

You certainly do!
thanks for the link dajop, my flight ago-yyc is listed on the correct day:)
Does seem very confusing though!
Ozbeachbabe hopefully my inability to allocate a seat means I may end up in economy comfort, I girl can only hope!
