Earning points
The Citi Premier Credit Card earns points towards the Citi Rewards program at the following rates:
- 2 Citi reward Points per $1 spent on eligible transactions online or overseas.
- 1 Citi reward Point per $1 spent on eligible transactions everywhere else.
The points earn is capped at 200,000 Citi reward Points over a 12-month period.
Cardholders can opt-in to Points Autosweep to automatically transfer your Citi reward Points balance to Velocity Frequent Flyer each month4. The transfer rate is 2 Citi reward Points to 1 Velocity Point, with a minimum transfer of 2,000 Citi reward Points in 1-point increments.
If you travel overseas or make regular online transactions in foreign currency, then the Citi Premier Credit Card can be a good way to earn Citi reward Points from international spend. Note that this card attracts a 3.4% overseas transaction fee, so consider if this fee is worth the points earned.
Provided your card account remains open and in good standing (for example – your account is not in default, suspended or closed), your Citi reward Points will not expire.
Using points
Transfer points to Velocity Frequent Flyer
When you opt-in to Points Autosweep4, your Citi reward Points will automatically convert to Velocity Points each month.
Velocity Points can be redeemed for domestic and international flights with Virgin Australia. You could also redeem Velocity Points for flights with Virgin Australia’s partner airlines, including Qatar Airways, United Airlines, Air Canada, Singapore Airlines, ANA, Hawaiian Airlines and more.

Pay with Points
There are many options for redeeming Citi reward Points, but a key feature of Citi Credit Cards is the ability to ‘Pay with Points’. This allows cardholders to use Citi reward Points to offset eligible purchases made with their card.
The redemption rate is 2,500 Citi reward Points for $10 back (0.4 cents per point), which will appear as a credit on your statement.
There are three ways to use this feature:
- Pay with Points (full amount)
- Pay with Points (partial amount via the Citi Mobile® App only)

To redeem Citi reward Points for Velocity Points you must be a Velocity member and advise NAB of your Velocity number prior to redemption. Velocity membership and Points earn and redemption is subject to the Velocity Terms and Conditions, as amended from time to time, available at velocityfrequentflyer.com. You can choose to manually redeem a minimum of 2,000 Citi reward Points at a time, or opt in for Points Autosweep. If you opt in for Points Autosweep, your Citi Rewards Balance will be automatically transferred to Velocity on the date nominated by you each month, provided your Rewards Balance is at least 2,000 Points. The rate at which Citi reward Points are redeemed for Velocity Points will be displayed at the time of redemption or you opting in for Points Autosweep. Visit Citi Online to manually redeem Citi reward Points for Velocity Points or set up Points Autosweep. You may opt out of Points Autosweep at any time and still be able to manually redeem your Citi reward Points for Velocity Points. The redemption of Citi reward Points will be administered solely by NAB and are subject to the Terms and Conditions of the Citi Rewards Program.
