Velocity Frequent Flyer has launched an excellent new offer for Australians who apply for a new co-branded Velocity credit card by 31 May 2022, with a choice of rewards available including six months of free Virgin Australia Gold status!
By applying for an eligible new credit card that earns Velocity points, you’ll be given a choice of three bonus rewards:
- 40,000 bonus Velocity points,
- $300 Virgin Australia travel bank credit, or
- Trial Velocity Frequent Flyer Gold status for six months
This reward is on top of the usual bonus sign-up points you can earn by applying for a new Velocity credit card and meeting the minimum spend criteria!
The best current Velocity sign-up bonus points offer for a personal credit card would earn you 120,000 bonus Velocity points (with the Westpac Altitude Black credit card, when opting into Altitude Velocity rewards). There’s also a current sign-up offer of 150,000 Velocity points with the Amex Velocity Business card.
Which Velocity credit cards are eligible for this offer?
To take advantage of this offer, you would need to choose your preferred reward on the Velocity Frequent Flyer website. Then, apply for any eligible Australian credit card that earns Velocity points and has an annual fee by 31 May 2022.

The American Express Velocity Escape credit card, which has no annual fee, is ineligible for this offer. Credit cards that do not directly earn Velocity points, such as cards that earn American Express Membership Rewards points (with the option to transfer points to Velocity) are also not eligible.
To receive your bonus reward, you would also need to meet the minimum spend criteria that applies for the current sign-up bonus points offer for that individual card.
Most sign-up bonus offers are not available to existing customers who already have a credit card with the same bank. Westpac also excludes previous customers who have held any Westpac credit card during the past 12 months, while American Express doesn’t offer bonus points if you already held an Amex product during the previous 18 months.
You’ll receive your choice of bonus reward within 30 days of meeting the minimum spend criteria for the main offer on your new Velocity Frequent Flyer credit card.
Six months of trial Velocity Gold status
If you’re currently a Red or Silver member of the Velocity Frequent Flyer program, you have the option to choose six months of trial Velocity Gold status as your exclusive reward with this offer. (If you’re already a Velocity Gold or Platinum member and select this option, you’ll be given 40,000 Velocity points instead.)
Trial Gold status gives you most of the usual benefits of Velocity Gold status including additional baggage allowance, priority check-in, priority boarding and lounge access when flying with Virgin Australia and selected international partner airlines.
However, during your trial period, you won’t receive the following benefits of full Velocity Gold membership:
- A physical membership card (you’ll instead have access to a digital card)
- Gold member baggage tags
- Complimentary status with hotel & car hire loyalty program partners
- The Guaranteed Economy Reward Seat benefit
- Parental membership pause
Extend your Gold membership for 12 months
Your trial Velocity Gold membership also comes with a fast-track to full Gold membership for 12 months!
If you earn at least 80 status credits and fly at least two eligible Virgin Australia sectors during your 6-month Trial Gold status, you’ll upgrade to full Gold status which you’ll get to keep for 12 months.
