St.George Amplify Qantas Signature Card
Earn 0.75 Qantas Points per $1 spent (up to $250k annually) and receive two complimentary Qantas lounge visits each year with a St.George Amplify Qantas Signature card.
Why we like the St.George Amplify Qantas Signature Card Guide
As an alternative to the St.George Amplify Rewards Signature card, which earns Amplify Points, St.George offers the Amplify Qantas Signature credit card. This card earns 0.75 Qantas points on everyday purchases, up to a total spend of $250,000 per annum. Also, you’ll receive 10% “birthday bonus” points each year!
This card also includes some handy travel perks such as two annual Qantas lounge invitations upon registration and complimentary travel insurance. Additionally, there’s a great Qantas points sign-up bonus.

Sign-up bonus
Apply for a St.George Amplify Signature card by 30 November 2024 to earn 80,000 bonus Qantas Points!
To receive the bonus points, you would need to spend at least $6,000 on eligible transactions on your card within 90 days of approval.
This offer is not available to existing St.George, Bank of Melbourne or BankSA cardholders, or if you have held a credit card from any of those banks in the last year.
To give you an idea, it would cost 83,000 Qantas Frequent Flyer points + $244 in taxes to fly Qantas Business Class from Sydney to Nadi, Fiji and back.
See our guide to redeeming Qantas Points effectively for more information on using Qantas Points.
Travel benefits
Here’s an overview of the travel benefits you can expect…
Qantas lounge invitations
As a St.George Amplify Qantas Signature cardholder, you’ll receive complimentary Qantas lounge invitations each year. To activate these passes each year, you’d need to register for the offer and then make a purchase from Qantas.
These lounge passes can be redeemed at any domestic Qantas Club lounge or Qantas international Business Lounge (excluding in Los Angeles) when flying on the same day with Qantas or Jetstar.
Complimentary travel insurance
This card comes with complimentary access to international travel insurance. It also includes interstate flight inconvenience insurance and rental vehicle excess cover in Australia.
This insurance is underwritten by Allianz. To be eligible for the international travel insurance benefit, you would need to:
- Live in Australia,
- Be less than 81 years old,
- Start and end your journey in Australia,
Have a return overseas travel ticket before leaving Australia, and - Spend at least $500 towards your trip on your St.George credit card before leaving Australia.
Before using this insurance, we’d encourage you to read the PDS here.
Visa Luxury Hotels
As a St.George Amplify Signature cardholder, you’ll get access to Visa’s Luxury Hotel Collection. This provides a “best available rate guarantee” and upgrade benefits when using your Visa credit card to book participating hotels through Visa Luxury Hotels.
Earning points
With a St.George Amplify Qantas Signature card, you’ll earn 0.75 Qantas Points per $1 spent on eligible transactions. This excludes government payments.
You’ll earn Qantas Points at this rate on the first $250,000 spent on your card each calendar year (i.e. from January to December). Unfortunately, no Qantas Points are earned on amounts spent over this amount each year. Bonus points do not count towards the annual cap.
Points earned from this card will be deposited into your Qantas Frequent Flyer account after the end of each monthly statement cycle. Qantas points expire if there is no activity in your Qantas Frequent Flyer account for 18 months. But if you’re earning points each month, your account will remain active.
The points earned from this card also count towards Qantas Points Club.
Birthday bonus
Each year, within four weeks of your birthday, St.George will credit an additional 10% of the points you’ve earned over the previous 12 months to your Qantas Frequent Flyer account! This means that you’re effectively earning 0.825 Qantas Points per dollar spent, assuming you keep your card open until after you’ve received your birthday bonus for that year.
Earning points for ATO & government payments
Unfortunately, payments made directly to the Australian Tax Office (ATO) or other government bodies in Australia with your St.George Amplify Qantas Signature card are not eligible to earn points.
However, you can use a payment service such as pay.com.au to pay tax and other bills with this card, and still earn points at the full rate!
Using Qantas Frequent Flyer points
You can use your Qantas Frequent Flyer points towards a wide range of rewards including reward flights, upgrades, hotel bookings or car rentals. And you can even put your points towards Qantas Wine purchases, hotels, Qantas Rewards Store purchases and even Ticketek bookings.
Classic Rewards
Arguably, the best value uses of Qantas points are on Classic Upgrade Rewards and Classic Flight Rewards. You can request an upgrade with Qantas points on any Qantas operated and marketed flight, or book a Classic Flight Reward seat with Qantas or any of its many partner airlines.
Qantas Classic Flight Rewards start at 6,400 Qantas Points + taxes & carrier charges for flights in Jetstar Economy Class, or 8,000 Qantas Points + taxes & carrier charges for a Qantas Economy Class flight of up to 600 miles (e.g. on the Sydney-Gold Coast route). Qantas Business Class reward seats start from 18,400 Qantas Points + taxes & carrier charges (e.g. for a Melbourne-Sydney flight).
Oneworld member airlines
Qantas is part of the Oneworld alliance, meaning you can redeem Qantas Points to fly with any of the other Oneworld member airlines. In fact, a popular use of Qantas points is the Oneworld Classic Flight Reward which allows you to travel around the world with up to 5 stopovers. This costs 132,400 Qantas Points in Economy Class or 318,000 Qantas Points for Business Class.
Qantas’ other partner airlines include Emirates, Jetstar, Fiji Airways, Air France and LATAM Airlines.
You can check the number of Qantas points needed on any route for an upgrade or reward flight on the Qantas website.
Classic Flight Reward bookings can be excellent value – especially if you’re booking a seat in Premium Economy, Business or First Class. However, beware that reward seat availability is limited. It can be difficult to find seats on popular routes and peak travel dates, especially if you’re looking for multiple seats.
When redeeming Qantas points for a Classic Flight Reward redemption, you’ll need to pay any applicable taxes & carrier charges in addition to the points. On some airlines, such as Emirates, these carrier charges can be quite expensive. However, other Qantas partner airlines have relatively low or no carrier charges including Fiji Airways, American Airlines, Alaska Airlines, LATAM Airlines, China Airlines and Air New Zealand.
