Virgin Australia has released a brand new, public Double Status Credits offer today! You can earn double Velocity status credits on all new Virgin Australia flight bookings made until the end of this week, for travel until 13 October 2020.
All Virgin Australia marketed and operated flights to all destinations are eligible for double Velocity status credits, provided the flight normally earns status credits. If you’re planning to book some Virgin Australia flights this week, this offer is a great way to earn Virgin Australia status faster!
To take part in this promotion, you must register on the Virgin Australia website and then include your Velocity Frequent Flyer number when making a new Virgin Australia booking by midnight (AEST) on Sunday, 24 November 2019.
According to the offer terms & conditions, it may take up to 4 weeks for the bonus status credits to hit your Velocity account after taking an eligible flight.
If you’re thinking about combining this offer with a Virgin Australia status run to reach a higher tier level, the infamous “Dunedin run” is still available. With this fare, you would fly Business class from Hobart or Launceston to Dunedin, New Zealand. To maximise status credits, you’d fly via Melbourne and Brisbane in both directions.
In total, this fare would cost around $1,164 return and nets 760 status credits during a double Virgin Australia status credits offer. That’s just $1.53 per status credit, and earns almost enough to renew Velocity Platinum status! (You’d need to earn 1,000 status credits to reach Platinum, but only 800 status credits are required in subsequent years to renew.)
You can also combine this offer with family pooling to easily earn Velocity status for one or two family members with just one family holiday. You may also be able to use a Virgin Australia promo code to save up to 15% on your flights!
The last double status credits promotion from Virgin Australia was in May 2019. This promotion marks the third double status credits offer from Velocity Frequent Flyer this year.
Qantas Frequent Flyer has not released a public double status credit offer since February of this year, and may never release another one. Earlier this year, Qantas shifted to targeted offers aimed at individual members, rather than offering double status credits to everyone at the same time.
