Virgin Australia has made every Economy Class seat on its domestic network available to book as a Velocity Reward Seat, for travel between 1 December 2021 and 31 March 2022. This includes travel around Christmas and New Year.
This limited-time offer is running for two days only and ends at midnight tomorrow, Tuesday 23 November 2021.
While you can already book any seat on any Virgin Australia flight using Velocity points (using Any Seat Rewards), this promo lets you book any Economy seat at the low Velocity Reward Seat rate.
Unfortunately, this offer excludes flights to Cocos (Keeling) or Christmas Islands. It also does not apply to Business Class, international or partner airline flights. You can find the full offer terms & conditions on the Velocity website, and head over to the Virgin Australia website to make a booking.
Velocity Reward Seats cost a fixed number of Velocity points, plus taxes & Velocity carrier charges. The number of points required depends on the total distance flown, as per the table on the Velocity website:
This initiative is similar to Qantas’ “Points Planes” promotions, although there are some differences. With Qantas, “Points Planes” are typically on just a few flights rather than across the entire network over a period of four months. However, when Qantas runs Points Planes, every seat is available to book as a reward flight – not just in Economy Class.
Other Velocity Frequent Flyer promotions
Velocity’s “biggest Reward Seat offer” coincides with several other promotions.
In particular, when flying with Virgin Australia on a Reward Seat booking until 31 March 2022, you can also earn Velocity status credits.
If you’re a little short on Velocity points, you could transfer points across from Flybuys at a 2:1 conversion rate. The points should arrive in your Velocity account instantly.
Velocity is currently giving a 20-30% bonus when transferring points from a credit card rewards program. That offer is available until 30 November 2021, although transfers from credit card programs could take a few days. The “biggest Reward Seat offer” promo ends tomorrow, so your points may not arrive in time.
Velocity Frequent Flyer is also currently giving 20% off Points Booster purchases.
