Australians Can Earn Everyday Rewards Points at Woolworths New Zealand

Australians travelling across the ditch can now earn Everyday Rewards points when shopping at Woolworths supermarkets in New Zealand.

It comes after Countdown supermarkets in New Zealand started rebranding as “Woolworths New Zealand” last year. As a result of this change, Woolies stores in New Zealand also adopted a local version of the Everyday Rewards loyalty program. But until recently, the Australian and New Zealand versions of Everyday Rewards were completely separate.

That changed last month. Australians travelling to New Zealand can now scan their Australian Everyday Rewards card at Woolworths’ New Zealand stores and earn points as they would in Australia. Kiwis can also do the same when shopping at Woolworths supermarkets in Australia.

How it works

Australians will earn 1 point for every New Zealand Dollar (NZD) spent in-store at Woolworths across the Tasman. Scanning an Everyday Rewards card at the checkout will also allow Aussies to access Woolworths’ member-only prices.

But Everyday Extra members won’t earn bonus points on spend in New Zealand. Aussies also won’t be able to use points booster offers overseas.

You’ll be able to see the points you’ve earned by logging into the Everyday Rewards website or App.

At this stage, Australians cannot redeem their Everyday Rewards points for shopping discounts in New Zealand. You can still redeem 2,000 points to get $10 off a Woolworths shop in Australia or convert them to 1,000 Qantas points.

New Zealand’s loyalty program shake-up

There’s a big loyalty shake-up underway in New Zealand right now.

Over the past year, the two main retail coalition loyalty programs – AA Smartfuel and Flybuys New Zealand – have both called it a day. AA Smartfuel had been a key partner of Countdown, which has become Woolworths New Zealand.

Flybuys New Zealand will cease operating later this year after almost 30 years.

Does this mean I can earn points at Countdown?

They're all being rebranded as Woolies.

First to confirm [on here?] that this is working, as advertised.

Dropped in to WW near ZQN after arrival yesterday for some essentials (i.e. a bunch of beer, wine and snacks) and EDR scans like home. Noting the Apple Wallet / RFID scan on the merchant terminal didn’t work.

Credited soon after to the EDR account:

So can't as yet redeem NZ EDR points for QF points. Unless I get an Au EDR card?

The WW EDR NZ partners are very limited. QF is not included
Boosters for WW EDR NZ are minor compared to AU

No - not a partner for NZ, but if you lived in NZ or visited often and want QFF points, then I can’t see an issue with getting a virtual card from AU and using that, now that they earn in NZ

Having arrived back last month from NZ, can report that points earn at NZ based Woolworths/countdown stores immediately to Australian based accounts - just like they do back home.
Just a word of warning, that spend at BP which is the fuel partner to Woolworths in NZ does NOT earn points for Australian based members.

If only I had read this thread before going!

I tried the Apple Wallet EDR card, it didn’t work either.

So probably needs a physical card?

Nope - just the barcode, which you can scan from the AU EDR app
