Card Apocalypse Imminent |
There
are just two days remaining until the value
in Australia's credit card reward programs
is gutted. On 1 July (this Saturday), the
RBA's interchange fee regulations take
effect. Australian banks have responded by
cutting rewards points and implementing
restrictive new earning caps.
The Commonwealth Bank, Westpac, NAB, ANZ,
Citibank and even Diners Club are all
lowering the earning rates on some or all of
their cards. Citibank went one step further
and retrospectively devalued its customers'
existing Citi Rewards points as well.

Qantas
Sydney Connections Too Short |
Connecting
from a domestic to an
international flight in
Sydney can be a
time-consuming process. The
international and domestic
terminals are located
several kilometres apart.
Passing through the
immigration and security
checkpoints can also be a
lengthy process. Despite
this, Qantas continues to
sell connections with as
little as 60 minutes between
the scheduled arrival of the
domestic flight in Sydney
and the more...

Train
or Plane around Europe? |
When
travelling between
Australian cities, it almost
always makes sense to fly.
Vast distances separate most
cities and high-speed rail
is not an option. In Europe,
the equation is completely
different. Fast trains
connect almost all European
cities. They provide an
efficient, comfortable and
affordable alternative to
air travel. Ahead of a trip
to Europe, one member
recently asked for advice on
getting around. more...

Online Event:
Best Credit Cards for Frequent Flyers |
On 1
July, the RBA's new interchange fee
regulations will take effect. These changes
have led to banks slashing credit card
points left, right and centre. Lower earning
rates, restrictive point caps and an
ever-shrinking range of credit cards that
award points for tax payments are making it
much more difficult to maximise your credit
card points haul.
Credit cards have long been a hugely popular
way to earn frequent flyer points on
everyday expenses. The game may be changing,
but there is still plenty of value
in the Australian credit card market
if you know where to look!
Frequent Flyer Solutions will hold its next
live online webinar tonight
at 8pm (AEST) to
explain how you can maximise your frequent
flyer points in Australia's ever-changing
credit card environment.

Australia
Phasing Out Departure Cards |
Overseas
travellers will no longer
need to fill out those pesky
green cards when departing
from Australia. From 1 July,
Australia's "outgoing
passenger cards" will
finally be phased out.
Travellers are pleasantly
surprised with the news.
These forms have been an
annoyance - albeit a minor
one - to many of our
members. Good, now I'll
only have to remind them
of my occupation 12 times

Business
Class to NZ: Qantas vs
Emirates |
There
are more than half a dozen
airlines flying between
Australia and New Zealand.
Except for Jetstar, these
airlines all offer Business
class. But the product in
the pointy-end can vary
enormously. Our member v1nce007
recently flew from Melbourne
to Auckland and back in
Business. They flew with
Qantas to Auckland,
returning on Emirates. The
two airlines' Business more...
