| jb747 Reflects on a Career at Qantas |
Anyone who's visited AFF's popular Ask The Pilot thread will be familiar with John Bartels, who goes by the AFF username of jb747. Over the years, jb747 has developed a reputation as one of AFF's most respected members. He has tirelessly answered thousands of AFF member questions relating to aviation, flying and the life of a pilot.
Earlier this year, John Bartels hung up his wings and retired from his role as a Qantas Airbus A380 captain. After a stellar aviation career spanning decades, John's final flight as a commercial pilot was from Singapore to Melbourne in January 2019. |

| New Emirates Business Class Fares |
| Emirates has started unbundling its Business Class fares with the launch of its new "Business Special" fare concept. Emirates' Business Special fares are a little bit cheaper than the Dubai-based airline's regular tickets. But they also exclude many of the perks that traditionally come with a Business class ticket. | Air NZ to Fly Boeing 787 to Gold Coast |
| Air New Zealand has scheduled its Dreamliner on flights to the Gold Coast for several services over the July school holidays. The airline's Boeing 787-9s will fly from Auckland to Gold Coast's Coolangatta Airport each Sunday between 7 and 21 July 2019.
