Qantas Wants More Redemption Options for Frequent Flyers
When Qantas launched Points Club three years ago, it wanted to encourage people to earn more frequent flyer points on the ground. This has been quite successful. Indeed, it's now easier than ever to earn lots of Qantas points in Australia through credit cards, shopping, buying fuel, buying wine or even going for a walk - to name just a few ways.
Now, Qantas wants to create more ways for people to redeem their points on the ground as well.

Featured Trip Report
Trip report by JessicaTam | It has been a while since I posted a trip report, so this seemed opportune. I have 28 days leave and so I thought I would do a bit of a status run before my BA year ends. Now you would realise that I am good at starting trip reports, but bloody hopeless at finishing them. Well this time it's different. I have not packed a camera so all photos will be on my phone and able to upload straight away ...

AFF Member Profile

This week we interviewed AFF member Warragul from Canberra, who joined Australian Frequent Flyer in 2021 and has so far made 94 forum posts.
Q: Favourite destination? A: Generally the next one that I'm booked to go to. I'm very lucky to have been to some amazing places. If forced to pick one - Machu Picchu and Sacred Valley in Peru. The pictures do not do it justice. Hope the new airport does not detract from that. But there are plenty of others I could easily spend more time at, if the finances allow.
Q: What do you do when you're not flying? A: I'm in the process of retiring (goodbye Gold Status). My current hobby is planning the land content of a Qantas Oneworld Classic Flight Reward itinerary I have booked (and ticketed!).
Q: Favourite airline? A: For the overall experience - Qatar Airways, although I haven't flown them for a few years. I like "dine on demand" and having a swim and massage at the fitness centre at Doha. The Al Mourjan lounge is pretty good too. I do wonder about rostering and employment conditions after talking with some of the crew in the A380 bar - that's not just a Qatar Airways thing, though. I haven't had any really bad experiences flying with any airline really (touch wood), there's been lost bags and cancelled flights but given the circumstances they did what was reasonably expected.
Q: What's one thing you wish you knew sooner about frequent flyer points? A: Status is good but not the be all. And on travel generally - Don't compare places you visit with home (e.g. "This is not as a good as in Australia"). Other places are not meant to be or trying to be like home, I was told this many years a ago but it took me a while to stop instinctively doing it.
Q: Favourite discussion thread on AFF? A: The Qantas Oneworld Award planning thread has plenty of information and tips on how to navigate the rules and limitations as well as dealing with the Qantas Call Centre where you appear to know more than the agent at the call centre sometimes. This has improved recently.
