Looking for a fast-track to elite status with Hilton Hotels? If you already hold status with another hotel chain, you could take advantage of Hilton Honors’ excellent status match offer in 2024 to easily earn Gold or Diamond status with Hilton for up to two years!

This grants you all the benefits of Hilton Honors Gold status for 90 days, including free breakfast and room upgrades. You can also complete a challenge to easily extend your Gold status or upgrade to Hilton Diamond status until the end of March 2026.

This offer is similar to the one from last year, except that Hilton has just updated the validity of status earned through this challenge up to March 2026.

How to get a Hilton Honors status match

If you already have the equivalent of Gold or Diamond status with another hotel loyalty program – such as Marriott Bonvoy, IHG One Rewards, World of Hyatt, Choice Privileges or Best Western Rewards – you’re eligible for a Hilton Honors status match.

To request your status match, simply fill in the form on the Hilton Honors website.

When requesting a status match online, you’ll need to upload proof of your existing status with a competing program and proof of a stay with that hotel chain during the past 12 months.

Note that Hilton is quite strict about what is accepted and may request more information if the proof you send does not meet their criteria. Here’s what it says under the offer terms & conditions on Hilton’s website:

Acceptable forms of status validation include a screenshot of your current and active account status. Acceptable forms of stay validation include a screenshot of your recent reservations or hotel receipt, redacting any personal information other than your name and membership number. We accept .jpg files only. Please do NOT send us any personal information (including your phone number, address, social security number, date of birth, user name, passwords, or credit card information). Only elite statuses from another hotel loyalty program that are listed in the status dropdown menu are eligible for status matching.

Only Hilton Honors members who have not previously completed a status match challenge are eligible for this offer.

You’ll generally be notified within a few business days if your status match request has been approved, although Hilton advises to allow 7-12 business days. You’ll then be able to enjoy the benefits of Hilton Honors Gold status for 90 days from the approval date.

Hilton Honors status challenge

If your Hilton status match request is accepted, you’ll then have the opportunity to extend your newly-minted Gold status until 31 March 2026. To do so, you would need to stay at least 8 nights at Hilton properties within 90 days. Alternatively, if you stay at least 14 nights within those 90 days, you’ll get a free upgrade to Hilton Honors Diamond status until March 2026.

These challenge requirements have changed over the years…

  • In 2019, you would have needed to stay either 10 or 18 nights within 90 days to lock in Gold or Diamond status respectively
  • In 2021, the Gold challenge required 5 nights and Diamond upgrade challenge needed 9 nights to complete
  • In 2022, the requirements changed to 7 nights for the Gold challenge or 12 nights for a Diamond upgrade
  • From 2023, the requirement became 8 nights for the Gold challenge or 14 nights for Diamond

Hilton property brands include Conrad, DoubleTree, Waldorf Astoria, Hampton Inn, Curio Collection and Hilton hotels.

Hilton Honors participating hotel brands: Waldorf Astoria, Conrad, LXR, Canopy by Hilton, Embassy Suites by Hilton, Hilton, Curio Collection by Hilton, Homewood Suites by Hilton, DoubleTree by Hilton, Tempo by Hilton, Motto by Hilton, Home2 Suites by Hilton, Tru by Hilton, Hampton Inn, Hilton Garden Inn and Spark by Hilton.

Reward nights booked using Hilton Honors points normally count towards status qualification with Hilton Honors. However, they do not count towards achieving the status match requirements of this particular promotion.

Also note that stays booked through third-party websites, such as Expedia or Qantas Hotels, generally do not count towards elite status qualification. You need to book directly through Hilton or the hotel, or with a “real” (bricks-and-mortar, not online) travel agent.

Here are the additional status match and challenge terms & conditions from the Hilton website:

Hilton reserves the right to decline any application at any time for any reason. Please allow 7 – 12 business days for Hilton Honors to process your request. Hilton may require additional validation in its complete discretion which may take an additional 7 – 12 business days. The 90 day status match trial period starts once approved. Only members who have not previously completed a status match challenge are eligible. Reward stays do not count toward achieving the status match requirements.

Benefits of Hilton Honors status

Straight match or a challenge? Is the Diamond status through 3/20?

I was matched to Hilton Gold last year based on Velcocity status (in turn matched from Qantas status).

I used it quite extensively last year especially in the US. I wouldn't go out of my way to get status with them - it really depends on the property. Most of the large hotels don't even give you breakfast but a $10 credit - which apparently you can use at Starbucks to buy a coffee and a muffin and that counts as breakfast. I don't think I got a single room upgrade (excluding upgrades with cash I bid for) but I could select great rooms in most hotels - not sure if that is a status thing or not (generally high floors and of the best views).

I've been trying to get a match from Marriott Bonvoy Titanium Elite (formerly Platinum Premier Elite) for a few weeks now, and they won't play along. I submit the form online, and then get a message 12-24 hours later saying that:

"After careful review, regrettably, we are unable to process your request with the provided documentation as they are either ineligible to compare against Hilton Honors program or not an eligible hotel brand.[...] If you are able to provide us with one of these required forms of proof, please resubmit your request by replying to this message and we will happily reevaluate your request within 48 hours."

I then send what they ask for over e-mail, as they instruct, and they reply another 12-24 hours later saying I need to use the online form, and they can't help over e-mail! The loop has run a few times now. Any thoughts on how to get past it? My sense is that they don't really understand Bonvoy, yet, and/or as there is no physical membership card I can scan for Bonvoy, they might not believe the status is real. I've included an actual hotel folio as evidence, and a range of screen captures showing status and stays with name and account number, but to no avail as yet.

Cheers,
Matt.

I am a Hilton Honors standard member, the lack of status with them due to their being very few Hiltons in FNQ , but now i have too make several expensive hotel bookings in the US
However i have Accor Platinum Status and have been for 4 years, the Accor group in the largest hotel group in the world outside the US, however this seems to counts for absolutely nothing with Corporate Guest Relations Specialist at "Hilton Reservations & Customer Care" 😡
When you apply on line there is no allocation in the drop down menus for Accor hotels, you have to select "other"!
Ive tried 3 times to apply for status match, and i seem to be in a loop of no outcome , just the same bland standard Hilton reply of the following :

Dear XX,
We appreciate your interest in attaining Elite status with Hilton Honors. After careful review, regrettably, we are unable to process your request with the provided documentation as they are either ineligible to compare against Hilton Honors program or not an eligible hotel brand. For consideration, please reply with the following:
- If you are a member of another hotel loyalty program, please reply with a screenshot or photo of your existing competitor membership card with your name printed clearly on it (handwritten names or those that appear to have been altered will not be accepted)
- Copy of your recent competitor account statement and activity (those that appear to be altered will not be accepted)
If you are able to provide us with one of these required forms of proof, please resubmit your request by replying to this message and we will happily reevaluate your request within 48 hours.

I have provided them with everything they have asked for, it has taken about an hour to compile the evidence , however 3 times they have replied with this bland response, never once have they indication why i didn't qualify.
I have even called the Hilton honors customer care line in Australia, and guess what i got ? yes the Indian_-call center , who were unable to help !

I suppose i should in the lyrics of " let it go " give up on Hilton Honors :

"Let it go, Let it go, turn away and slam the door, i don't care what Hilton customer care say anymore"🙂

Has Any Accor Platinum member had any success with this latest "so called Status Match" ?

Yes, I was successful but I think that was back in 2017.

Same here. Tried to get them to match my Bonvoy Platinum Elite. Same standard message you got above as well. So frustrating.

Have others who have been unsuccessful also successfully matched with Hilton in the past? I'm now trying again with a newly created HH account (which I could later combine with my legacy account), as I wonder whether they are denying it for having had a status match to Diamond in previous promotions (a few years ago for me, now). They haven't got anything around this in the match terms, but I wouldn't put it past them to make my request otherwise ineligible without really saying why... just a thought.

Cheers,
Matt.
