Most Australian airport lounges offer hot barista-made coffee for that much-needed pick-me-up before your flight. But as a refreshing alternative to flat whites, cappuccinos and long blacks, did you know that some lounges also offer iced coffee?
It’s not advertised, but if you ask your barista nicely in the Virgin Australia Lounge or selected Qantas lounges, they can make you an iced latte or iced long black. Some Qantas domestic lounges also offer iced chocolates.
Unfortunately, the Qantas and Virgin Australia lounges don’t generally stock ice cream or whipped cream to spruce up your iced coffee. But if it’s a warm day or you just feel like a cool caffeinated beverage, it can really hit the spot.

Iced coffee is not available in all domestic Qantas lounges. For example, I recently asked in the Sydney Qantas Club if it was on the menu, and the barista just shook his head. But next door in the Business Lounge, the barista was happy to prepare me an iced long black with a dash of milk.
Here’s a list of domestic Qantas Club and Qantas Business Lounges that do offer iced coffee:
- Sydney domestic Qantas Business Lounge
- Melbourne Qantas Club
- Melbourne domestic Qantas Business Lounge
- Adelaide Qantas Club
If you’re visiting an eligible domestic Qantas lounge in Sydney, Melbourne or Adelaide, you can even pre-order an iced latte, iced long black or iced chocolate using the Skip app.
If you know of any other Qantas lounges that offer this, please let us know in the comments!
So, now you know – next time you feel like an iced coffee in the Virgin Australia Lounge or some Qantas lounges, all you need to do is ask!
