Did you know that Jetstar offers a Price Beat Guarantee? If a competing airline has a cheaper flight on the same route, you can fly Jetstar for 10% off the competitor’s airfare.
Using the Jetstar Price Beat Guarantee, you can get some seriously cheap airfares. It’s particularly useful for matching excellent sales offered by other airlines – such as Virgin Australia’s Happy Hour sale fares.
So, how does Jetstar’s Price Beat Guarantee actually work?
How the Jetstar Price Beat Guarantee works
The Jetstar Price Beat Guarantee exists so that Jetstar can legitimately advertise that they’ll always have the lowest fares. But there are some terms and conditions that have to be met, and the booking process is a little complex.
The price beat applies to flights operated by Jetstar, Jetstar Asia and Jetstar Japan. As well as beating competing airlines’ fares, Jetstar will also beat lower airfares being sold by third-party booking websites for Jetstar flights.
To fly Jetstar for 10% less than another airline’s price, the competitor’s flight must:
- Depart within one hour of the Jetstar flight (or be on the same calendar day for long-haul international flights)
- Depart and arrive at the same airports
- Be a direct, one-way flight
- Be cheaper after adding all mandatory fees, surcharges and taxes
- Not depart within the next 7 days
There are also various rules governing claims against Jetstar fares found on third-party websites, and there is a fair-use policy. You can view the full terms & conditions on the Jetstar website.
What does the Price Beat Guarantee look like?
As an example, you could use this Jetstar deal to save over $125 on the following flight from Sydney to Ho Chi Minh City. Jetstar is currently selling seats for $499:
But Vietjet Air has a flight departing on the same day of the Jetstar service, available for $415.55. This is also the lowest bundle available, with only 7kg luggage included:
Using the Price Beat Guarantee, you could book a seat on the Jetstar flight for $373.99, or 10% off the Vietjet Air price.
Because Sydney-Ho Chi Minh City is an international long-haul route, the competing airline’s flight just needs to be on the same day. If it was a domestic or short-haul flight, it would need to depart within an hour of the Jetstar service.
How to book using the Jetstar Price Beat Guarantee
To book, you’ll need to use the online chat on the Jetstar website. The agent will then confirm whether you have an eligible price beat fare, and if so, you can complete your booking on the spot.
Note that Jetstar’s Price Beat Guarantee can only be used to book Economy Starter fares. You can add baggage and other extras after booking for an additional fee.
However, you cannot add a Jetstar bundle to a Price Beat booking, meaning you can’t earn Qantas points or status credits. The offer also does not apply to Jetstar Business Class fares.
The terms & conditions for this offer have changed several times over the years, but this remains a great way to get cheap flights.
