Malaysia Airlines will launch direct flights between Kuala Lumpur and Paris in March 2025. There are a few Classic Reward seats available on the new service, including in Business Class, with easy connections available to and from Australia and New Zealand.

The new Malaysia Airlines flight from Kuala Lumpur to Paris

The national airline of Malaysia will launch daily services from Kuala Lumpur to Paris from 22 March 2025. The flights will operate to and from Paris’ Charles de Gaulle Airport.

This will be the schedule:

  • MH21 Kuala Lumpur 23:40 – Paris 06:40 (+1 day)
  • MH20 Paris 11:25 – Kuala Lumpur 06:10 (+1 day)

The flights will be on Airbus A350-900s with Economy, Business Class and Business Suite seating. By booking Business Class, not only will you get a fully lie-flat bed… but you’ll also get to enjoy Malaysia Airlines’ delectable satay service!

Connections to/from Australia

The Kuala Lumpur-Paris flight is timed to offer short connections with Malaysia Airlines flights to and from Sydney, Melbourne, Perth and Auckland. One-stop connections are also available via Kuala Lumpur from Adelaide and Brisbane to Paris, but with longer transit times in both directions.

Most Malaysia Airlines flights between Malaysia and Australia or New Zealand are on Airbus A330 jets.

Booking seats with Qantas Points

There is good Economy availability on the new flights. Malaysia Airlines has also released a fair few Business Class rewards, particularly from Paris to Kuala Lumpur. You can book these seats as Classic Rewards with Qantas Frequent Flyer points.

You can also book itineraries all the way between Paris and Auckland, via Kuala Lumpur, on the Qantas website:

However, if you search for Classic Reward seats between Paris and Australian cities such as Melbourne, the Qantas website won’t show any – even if they are available.

Use the multi-city booking engine

The trick here is to use the multi-city booking page on the Qantas website to force available flights to show.

For example, we used Seats.aero to find Business reward availability from Paris to Melbourne on 20 May. They didn’t appear on the Qantas website when doing a simple one-way flight search. So we searched for the individual flights separately using the multi-city tool:

Instead, search for flights using the Qantas website’s multi-city booking tool.

If there is availability, you’ll then be able to select the flights individually on the next pages:

Then, select the individual flights that you want on the Qantas website.

Finally, the Qantas website will provide you a quote and you can click through to complete the booking and payment.

If you can’t find Classic Reward availability between Kuala Lumpur and Paris, Malaysia Airlines also flies to London Heathrow. This is Malaysia’s only other European destination after the carrier withdrew from Paris, Amsterdam and Istanbul around the middle of last decade.

Finding Classic Reward availability to Europe on Qantas

Qantas also flies to London and Paris. Finding Classic Reward seats in Business on these Qantas flights is nearly impossible, outside of random batch releases. But there is another option if you have Qantas Platinum or Platinum One status.

Top-tier frequent flyers have the option to call Qantas to request the release of extra Classic Reward flights – including in Business and First Class. Qantas won’t always approve such requests, but there is a chance. So, it’s worth asking!

That's great news.

Just wishing that they upgrade MH124/5 KUL-PER from the 738Max to A350. Timings work perfectly with the downtime they have with the Paris flights. I think this was how they worked the B772ERs 10 years ago - KUL-CDG-KUL-PER-KUL. (I know it won't happen)

Maybe not A350, but A330 might happen when the new neos arrive

There's a bit of Business Classic Reward availability available with QFF points on the new route, particularly in the CDG-KUL direction. But flights won't necessarily appear on Qantas.com unless you break up the search using the multi-city tool.

Considering some readers here considered flying with MH for their value for money J class products for long haul routes to EU, I am surprised the month old news of MH being part of capacity reduction (20%) measures by owner MAG (affected 25% domestic, almost 10% international flights) - initially for 2 months, then revised to almost 5 months, due to supply chain issues including maintenance problems and delay in new plane delivery, hasn’t seemed to hit headlines in AFF and other frequent traveller websites, nor dampen enthusiasms about this airline.

Beside being a Debbie downer, am I missing something else about the news treatment of MH woes?
