Marriott Hotels is giving away 41 “Ultimate Marriott Bonvoy Packages” to Australians vaccinated against COVID-19 in its new Marriott Vaccine Passport competition. Open to all Australian adults who’ve received both doses of a COVID-19 vaccination, entries for this competition close at 3pm (AEST) on 30 November 2021.
The prizes
Five lucky Australians will win a 1-night stay at all 28 participating Marriott Bonvoy hotels & resorts in Australia, New Zealand, Fiji and New Caledonia. The prize includes accommodation, but not food, drinks or other extras like spa treatments.
Other prizes include complimentary 1-night stays at every Marriott hotel in Victoria, Queensland, NSW, Tasmania, WA, Canberra, New Caledonia or Fiji. Here’s the full list of prizes from the Marriott website:
While these look like great prizes, the values listed on Marriott’s website make absolutely no sense. For example, there’s only one Marriott hotel in Canberra – the Midnight Hotel, which costs $155 per night for a room. So it’s difficult to see how that prize is worth $2,000.
It also doesn’t make any sense that 1-night stays at all the Marriott hotels in Queensland would be worth more than 1-night stays at every Marriott hotel in Australia, New Zealand, Fiji and New Caledonia!
While Marriott is at it, they should probably get somebody to proofread the rest of that webpage. 😉
The winner will be able to claim their prizes any time between January 2022 and May 2023, subject to hotel room availability and excluding Saturdays and school holidays.
How to enter the Marriott Vaccine Passport competition
Fully vaccinated Australians aged 18 and over can enter this competition on the Marriott website.
You’ll need to upload your PDF vaccination certificate from Medicare or myGov, and tell Marriott in 25 words or less “what travelling means to you”. You’ll also need to be a Marriott Bonvoy member (if you’re not already a member, you can join the program for free).
Unlike the Qantas and Virgin competitions promoting COVID-19 vaccination which have been launched in recent weeks, the winners of the Marriott competition will not be decided by luck. Instead, they’ll be selected by judges based on the “creative merit” of their answer to the question about “what travelling means to you”. So, have a good think about how you’ll answer this question on your entry form!
The winners will be determined and notified on 6 December 2021.
