Qantas Club members love their coffee, especially ahead of an early morning flight.

The lounge baristas work hard every morning to caffeinate frequent flyers before they board their flights. But have you ever wondered which hot drinks Qantas flyers order the most?

When visiting the lounge at times when caffeinated beverages are in high demand, there’s often a bit of a line. But you skip the queue by ordering your coffee before you even get to the lounge using the Skip app. This free service is available at the Qantas Club and domestic Business lounges in Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide, Canberra and Perth.

This is a great service for people using the Qantas lounges. It also gives us access to some interesting data.

The team at Skip has shared the most popular orders at each of the Qantas lounge locations where its service is available. The most popular type of coffee depends on which city you’re in.

In Sydney and Brisbane, Qantas Club members love their flat whites more than any other type of coffee. But the latte takes the top spot in Melbourne, Adelaide and Perth.

For some reason, the most popular drink ordered by Qantas frequent flyers in Canberra is a long macchiato. This is a strong coffee made with a double shot of espresso, a dash of milk and a dollop of foam.

Lattes were the second most popular drink ordered in all the lounges where it wasn’t the first choice.

In Perth and Adelaide, flat whites came in second place. In Melbourne, the second most popular beverage is the humble cappuccino.

If you’d like something a bit different, you can also order other drinks like hot chocolates, mochas and chai lattes in the Qantas lounges. Some Qantas lounges also offer iced coffees and if you’re in Melbourne, you can even order a “magic” coffee.

And yet the QPub and J Lounge only offer small takeaway cups and even smaller dine in size.

Wish they would get a larger cups.

Second that.
ADL coffee is pretty decent but some of the others (I’m looking at you SYD) are very ordinary

This is the reason my standard order is always two coffees, rather than get one, drink it and then line up for a second.

Although these days I more often have my Contigo spill proof brew mug with me and just hand that over. As it’s about the size of 1.5 coffee cups it works well.

Agree, i always end up getting two as the cups are too small. It would be nice to at least have an option of a larger cup - would save on lots of washing up.

It was interesting that earlier this year, I ordered an ice latte in QP at MEL. The barista took his time as it was quiet and also asked for feedback as I was apparently the first to ever ask him for one.

He told me that it was something that the team rarely gets asked for even though it's pretty simple to make.
