Etihad Guest is an interesting frequent flyer program because there are a large assortment of partner airlines that you can redeem miles to fly on.

Etihad Guest award flight pricing & rules

Award flights on Etihad Airways itself can be good value, although the cost of award flights is sometimes higher than shown in the Etihad award charts. Booking through Etihad Guest also gives you greater access to Etihad Business & First Class reward seats when booking more than 30 days in advance.

You can only redeem Etihad Guest awards to fly on one partner airline per ticket; you cannot combine partner airlines on a single award ticket. Awards are priced as point-to-point flights and there are no free stopovers.

The “sweet spot” with Etihad Guest redemptions is generally short-haul flights.

Beware that Etihad has rather high award cancellation penalties, which get higher as the flight gets closer to departure.

How to book

You can redeem miles for flights on airlines including Etihad Airways, Virgin Australia, American Airlines, Air France, KLM, Garuda Indonesia and Malaysia Airlines on the Etihad website.

To book award flights on other partner airlines, you’ll need to call Etihad Guest. From Australia, the phone number is 1300 532 215. Partner airline award flights must be booked at least 24 hours in advance.
