Overview of Thai Airways Royal Orchid Plus Redemptions

Thai Airways used to have a good frequent flyer program, but the Royal Orchid Plus program underwent a major devaluation in October 2019. The program is no longer competitive and we recommend transferring your points to Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer for Star Alliance awards instead.

Nonetheless, here is some information about redeeming Royal Orchid Plus miles…

You can of course redeem miles to fly on Thai Airways. As Thai Airways is a member of Star Alliance, Thai Royal Orchid Plus miles can be redeemed to fly on any Star Alliance airline:

Star Alliance airlines: Aegean, Air Canada, Air China, Air India, Air New Zealand, ANA, Asiana, Austrian, Avianca, Brussels Airlines, Copa Airlines, Croatia Airlines, EgyptAir, Ethiopian, EVA Air, LOT, Lufthansa, Shenzhen Airlines, Singapore Airlines, South African Airways, Swiss, TAP, Thai Airways, Turkish Airlines, United

Thai Airways Royal Orchid Plus uses region-based award charts. Different award charts apply to Thai Airways and Star Alliance award flights. Here are links to the relevant award charts:

On Star Alliance awards, you can use up to 4 flight sectors per one-way award (but backtracking is not allowed) and stopovers are permitted.

Thai Airways also offers a Star Alliance round-the-world award, but since the October 2019 devaluation, the prices are absurdly high! We recommend redeeming Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer miles for a KrisFlyer Star Alliance round-the-world award instead.

You can book some awards on the Thai Airways website. However, for Star Alliance awards not originating in Thailand, you will need to call your local Thai Airways office.
