Virgin Atlantic is a member of the SkyTeam alliance. It also has some useful partner airlines outside of SkyTeam.
The following airlines make up the SkyTeam alliance:
You can also redeem Virgin Atlantic Flying Club points for award flights on the following non-SkyTeam partner airlines:
- Air New Zealand
- All Nippon Airways (ANA)
- Hawaiian Airlines
- Singapore Airlines
- South African Airways
- Virgin Australia
Virgin Atlantic Flying Club has different award charts for each non-SkyTeam partner airline, as well as Delta, Air France and KLM redemptions. There is a standard award chart for award flights on all other SkyTeam airlines.
As of October 2024, redemptions on Virgin Atlantic flights use dynamic pricing.
In most cases, the award charts show round-trip award prices but one-way awards are permitted for 50% of the required points (except ANA awards, which may only be round-trip). See the Virgin Atlantic website for a full list of partner airlines and award charts (or click on your preferred airline from the above list).
You can book Flying Club award flights on the Virgin Atlantic website for travel on Virgin Atlantic and some partner airlines including Air France, KLM, Delta, Middle East Airlines, Korean Air, ITA Airways and Garuda Indonesia. For other partner airline awards, call the Flying Club contact centre.
If you’re thinking about transferring Amex Membership Rewards points to Flying Club, there are a few “sweet spots” in this program. For example, these awards of interest to Australians can be good value:
- SkyTeam Business Class flights just under 1,000 miles in length
- Hawaiian Airlines from Sydney or Auckland to Honolulu
- ANA from Sydney to Tokyo
- Air New Zealand from Australia to New Zealand
- Singapore Airlines from Australia or New Zealand to Singapore in Economy (premium cabin awards are not generally released, except to Darwin & Cairns)
- Delta from Sydney to Los Angeles
- Air France Premium Economy from Singapore or Hong Kong to Paris
However, beware that awards are priced as individual, point-to-point sectors. If you use multiple flights to get to your destination, this will be charged as the sum of every individual flight in the booking.
