Qantas is giving yet another complimentary extension to Qantas Club members. Anyone who had an active membership as of 30 June 2021 will automatically be given another seven months of Qantas Club access. The airline is also extending complimentary lounge invitations for a further 7 months.
Anyone with an active paid Qantas Club membership as of 30 June 2021 will receive a complimentary 7-month extension applied to their account in October 2021. This is also being given to anyone who joined Qantas Club or renewed their membership between 30 June and 25 August 2021. (This announcement was made on 26 August 2021.)
Complimentary lounge invitations that were active as of 30 June 2021 will also have their expiry dates extended by another 7 months. Qantas says that eligible lounge invitations will be updated by 30 August 2021. (You can manage your lounge invitations on the Qantas website.)
If you’re eligible for one of these 7-month Qantas Club extensions, you don’t need to do anything. It will be applied automatically. You can read the full offer terms & conditions on the Qantas website.
The complimentary extensions only apply to paid Qantas Club memberships, including memberships paid using money, Qantas points or via a corporate scheme. The offer does not apply to complimentary lounge memberships given to Qantas Points Club Plus members.
Qantas Frequent Flyer members with access to Qantas lounges via their status have already been given separate status extension offers.
This is the fourth complimentary lounge membership extension that Qantas has given since March 2020, due to COVID-19 and the ongoing associated travel restrictions and lounge closures. Qantas had already given 15 months worth of extensions to people who had an active Qantas Club membership as of March 2020 (comprised of six months, a further six months and then another 3 months). This would have so far taken members through to June 2021. This new offer takes most people through to at least January 2022.
The latest round of complimentary lounge extensions is an acknowledgement that many Qantas lounges are currently closed (again) due to COVID-19 restrictions. As of today, none of the Qantas lounges in NSW, Victoria and ACT are open. The Gold Coast, Rockhampton and Port Hedland lounges are also shut at the moment.
All Qantas international lounges are also temporarily closed right now, except the Qantas Hong Kong lounge which is now permanently closed.
