Qantas has extended the validity of complimentary lounge invitations by six months. Paid Qantas Club members will also receive a six month extension on their memberships.
The Qantas Club extensions come as Qantas airport lounges worldwide are temporarily closed due to COVID-19 measures.
The six-month Qantas Club membership extension applies to everyone that was a paid member of Qantas Club as of 23 March 2020. This includes those who joined via Australian Frequent Flyer’s Qantas Club corporate scheme, but excludes anyone with complimentary membership.
Qantas says it will automatically extend all eligible Qantas Club memberships by the end of May 2020. There is no need to register for an extension. But new physical membership cards will not be sent out during this time.
Single-use electronic Qantas Club passes, such as those that come with Qantas Silver membership and some credit cards, have already been extended by six months. You should be able to see the updated expiry dates when managing your complimentary lounge invitations on the Qantas website.
Virgin Australia has not yet announced a policy regarding the extension of airport lounge passes or annual lounge memberships.
Two weeks ago, Qantas announced it will extend the Silver, Gold, Platinum and Platinum One status of all Qantas Frequent Flyer members that currently hold status by 12 months.
