Qantas has announced that it will commence flights to Bendigo – of all places – from 31 March 2019. The flights will be operated by QantasLink using 50-seater Dash 8 Q300 aircraft.
The Qantas flights to Bendigo are timed so that Bendigonians can get to Sydney early in the morning, and return in the evening. The flights also connect to many international destinations through Sydney. And the timings work well for Sydneysiders heading to Bendigo for a weekend – you could fly out on a Friday evening and return on Monday morning, in time to return to work.
The Sydney-Bendigo flights will initially operate 6 times per week. Frequency will increase to daily over the peak summer season.
Here is the schedule for the new QantasLink flights to Bendigo:
- QF2196 Bendigo 06:30 – Sydney 08:20 (except Sunday)
- QF2197 Sydney 17:25 – Bendigo 19:25 (except Saturday)
QantasLink will be the only airline to offer commercial flights to Bendigo Airport (BXG) when services commence next year. The launch of Qantas flights to Bendigo will save residents and visitors to the town from having to drive or catch a train to Melbourne Airport – shaving around two hours off the journey to/from Sydney.
Launch fares are currently available from $129 one-way. This sale ends on Monday 17 December.
There is also plenty of award availability on the Sydney-Bendigo route, with as many as 8 Economy award seats available most days. Even the inaugural Sydney-Bendigo service currently has 6 Classic Flight Reward seats on offer. A reward seat will cost you 8,000 Qantas Frequent Flyer points and $26.43 in taxes and Qantas carrier charges.
The new route announcement has generated some excitement among the AFF community. At least one member has already booked a seat on the inaugural flight, and others are also considering a trip to Bendigo. According to our members, there are plenty of good reasons to visit…
Worth flying in from Sydney just to eat at Mason’s. One of the best restaurants in Aus right now.
Definitely. Stay at the Shamrock Hotel, eat at Masons, have a pie at the Original Pie Shop, wander around Rosalind Park, take the Deborah Mine tour, a beer at the Rifle Brigade Hotel, supper at the Wine Bank On View – a good weekend
