Qatar Airways has become the first major airline to serve caviar in Business Class, adding the delicacy to its menu on selected flights from today.
Qatar Airways Business Class passengers are in for a treat when flying between Doha and 13 destinations, including Melbourne and Sydney.
The airline says that passengers can enjoy the new caviar service as a standalone option or as part of the regular onboard meal service. Qatar offers “dine anytime” in Business Class, meaning passengers can choose to eat whenever they like.
On which Qatar Airways flights is caviar available?
Here’s the full list of destinations to/from Doha where Qatar Airways is now serving caviar in Business Class:
- Boston
- Dallas
- Hong Kong
- Houston
- London
- Los Angeles
- Melbourne
- New York
- Paris
- Sao Paulo
- Singapore
- Sydney
- Washington
Caviar is normally reserved for First Class
The handful of other airlines that serve caviar on board only offer this in First Class. To say that it’s unusual for an airline to offer caviar in Business Class is an understatement.
Emirates famously offers unlimited caviar in First Class. But at the same time, even many airlines with First Class don’t serve caviar at all.
Qatar Airways continues to offer caviar in its long-haul Airbus A380 First Class.
The Qatari airline has repeatedly won Skytrax awards for the world’s best Business Class. Although some people dispute the credibility of the Skytrax awards, there’s no doubt that many travellers do indeed rate Qatar’s Business Class service very highly. The on-board service is great, and the Qsuite Business Class hard product is among the best in the sky.

Booking Qatar Airways flights with points
In theory, you can use both Qantas and Velocity points to book Business and First Class reward seats on Qatar Airways. In practice, Qatar only releases those seats to Qantas frequent flyers three days before departure. So, Velocity points are much more useful for this.
You can redeem Velocity points for Qatar Airways flights on the Virgin Australia website.
But you can get the earliest access to Qatar Airways reward seats – and often better pricing, too – using Avios. This is the shared loyalty point currency of six airlines including Qatar Airways, British Airways and Finnair. You can even convert American Express Membership Rewards points into Qatar Airways Avios.
