Quadruple Velocity Status Credits with Flybuys in December 2022

Velocity Frequent Flyer members with a linked Flybuys account can earn up to quadruple Virgin Australia status credits when shopping at Coles, Liquorland or First Choice Liquor Market this month.

Flybuys members can normally earn 1 Velocity status credit per $100 spent at Coles, Liquorland or First Choice Liquor Market – up to a maximum of 10 status credits per month (for a spend of $1,000).

During December 2022, this standard earn rate doubles to 2 Velocity status credits per $100 – up to a total of 20 status credits for the month.

But Flybuys members who have opted into Velocity Auto Transfer will receive quadruple status credits. That’s 4 status credits per $100 spent, up to a total of 40 status credits!

If you’re collecting Velocity status credits, that seems like a pretty good reason to do your Christmas shopping at Coles this year! Of course, you’ll also earn Flybuys points when shopping at Coles and other Flybuys partners in addition to the status credits.

If you opt-in to Velocity Auto Transfer, your Flybuys points will be automatically converted into Velocity points. The conversion rate is 1,000 Flybuys points = 500 Velocity points. However, beware that as soon as you opt-in, your entire existing Flybuys points balance will be converted into Velocity points. You cannot transfer those points back into your Flybuys account at a later time.

To receive 4x status credits, you would need to remain opted-in to Velocity Auto Transfer until at least the end of the promotion period. In other words, until at least 11.59pm on 31 December 2022. See the Flybuys website for full T&Cs.

Earning Virgin Australia status

You would need to earn at least 250, 500 or 1,000 Velocity status credits to reach Virgin Australia Silver, Gold or Platinum status respectively. You’d also need to complete a minimum number of eligible Virgin Australia flights. Lower status credit thresholds apply for renewals.

You wouldn’t be able to earn Virgin Australia status just from shopping at Coles, Liquorland or First Choice Liquor. But this promotion could help if you’re only a few status credits short of upgrading or renewing your Velocity status tier.

If you have family members with their own Flybuys accounts, you may also be able to use Velocity’s family pooling scheme to earn even more status credits from this promotion.

This is huge for me ... I reckon it'll net me at least 28 stat creds from Coles alone!

All you have to do is make sure autotransfer is on and stays on for the whole month!

This is the best I can find to a link:

That sounds exciting!

Is there a limit of the number of sc to earn?
Does gift card purchase count?

Edit answergin myself: 40 sc, excluding gift cards, all in the t&cs.

There's always a limit of 10 per month, which gets doubled or quadrupled during promotions.

If I recall correctly there's also a limit of 100 in a calendar year ... I'm assuming that these SCs will all count towards that limit? Or, I'm wondering if the extra SCs are regarded as a bonus over and above the 100 limit?

Either way, it'll help me load in more SCs from Coles in time for my next status review date.

Looks like it's double, if you don't turn on autotransfer, which I don't want to do (I have ~250k FlyBuys right now). But I was hoping we'd get double in December like past years, so this should help me inch toward Plat requalification.

I believe the only limit is 10 per month making up to 120 per 12 months (without bonus).

Let's see

- one account 150,000 points
- other account 120,000 points

Double or quadruple SCs would have been nice but each account getting close to a return airfare to Thailand. No way I'm turning on auto transfer.

Note that ~75,000 Velocity points could be enough for a return to Thailand but I can't travel when I want to travel.

You can get double without autotransfer. It's only for quadruple you need to turn it on.

Oh sounds great. May just get over the line to.Velocity Gold by February 2033 without further flights.

I'm not even going to do that.

I don't 'need' any more SC's to requalify VA WP before end of February and even if I did 'need' any I'd unlikely to turn on auto transfer which would clear out my 6 Figure Flybuys balance for a measly extra 20 SC's and the points I could get anytime.
