Virgin Australia’s new international lounge at Brisbane Airport has finally opened, almost a year behind schedule. “My Lounge – Home of Virgin Australia”, as it’s called, opened its doors to its first guests on Saturday, 31 August 2019.
Operated by No1 Lounges, My Lounge in Brisbane offers barista coffee, an “extensive grazing menu” and a bar service with beer, wine and a signature Virgin Australia “Flamingo” cocktail. There are also showers, wifi and charging outlets available.
Located near gate 77 in Brisbane Airport’s international terminal, the compact but colourful lounge has plenty of natural light and offers runway views.
AFF member openseat was one of the first to use Virgin Australia’s new Brisbane lounge and they were happy with the offering…
It’s fairly compact but enough room for this morning’s crowd. The food spread is quite good, although no eggs (gasp!). A barista is on hand. Nice tarmac views. The staff are very helpful and friendly.
You do hear the announcements of the terminal but there are no announcements made in the lounge.
All in all a nice lounge.
Access to My Lounge, Home of Virgin Australia in Brisbane
Eligible Virgin Australia passengers can now use “My Lounge” when flying from Brisbane to any of Virgin’s international destinations. This includes Virgin Australia Business passengers, as well as Velocity Gold and Platinum members. Virgin Australia Lounge members can also use My Lounge, but only when flying to New Zealand with Virgin Australia.
Velocity Gold and Platinum members will also have access to My Lounge at Brisbane when departing on international Hainan Airlines flights or Hawaiian Airlines flights. However, access is only offered with Hawaiian Airlines if booked on the Virgin Australia codeshare. (Frankly, we find this rather poor.)
Until 9 September 29 September 2019, Virgin Australia passengers flying to Los Angeles will continue to be sent to the Plaza Premium Lounge at Brisbane Airport. From 10 September 30 September, My Lounge will also be available to LA-bound flyers.
Velocity Gold and Platinum members flying with Singapore Airlines will still be sent to the Silver Kris Lounge, and Etihad passengers continue to be relegated to the Plaza Premium Lounge.
Paid entry to My Lounge
If you’re flying internationally from Brisbane, you can also pay to use My Lounge for up to 3 hours before your flight departs – regardless of your frequent flyer status or the airline you’re flying. The price is $60 per person if pre-booked online. Velocity Frequent Flyer members can receive 20% off and earn at least 3 Velocity points per dollar by booking online.
This discount for Velocity members also applies at other No1 Lounges, including “The House” lounges in the international terminals of Sydney and Melbourne airports.
