Umm, the hotels are 7 mins walk apart. I know this as I stay at the PH and use the gym at the GH.

Room booked: grand king
Rate: ~AUD315 total for two nights
Received: club king, multiple bottles of water, personal welcome from the Gold Passport manager, very late check-out (plus two hours over the Diamond benefit), full breakfast in restaurant, two complimentary laundry items, box of four macaroons, welcome card from the GM.

I've got the Grand Hyatt Singapore coming up on the 28th for 9 nights which I will report back on soon, but here's the last few stays with the first two from my recent 5-week world trip with my best mate.
Status: Diamond (Challenge)
Property: Grand Hyatt Hong Kong
Dates: 15/11 - 17/11 (2 nights)
Room Booked/Rate: Something at nightly Points + Cash rate of 12,500 points + US$150
Received: Grand Deluxe Harbour Twin
Other Comments: Received personal welcome and escort to room from the Front Office Manager. Staff were absolutely exceptional. Had the Grand Club Concierge contaxt the airlines in relation to special meals for my flight reservations and they looked after everything very efficiently. The Grand Club F&B staff were also fantastic and, essentially, made me whatever I wanted whenever I wanted. When I had to cancel a further two one-night stays coming up the following month I got e-mails from staff that were disappointed I wasn't coming back as they were specifically looking forward to seeing me (they weren't just saying it)! Now that is service and care.

Dates: 03/12 - 11/12 (8 nights)
Room Booked/Rate: Something at My Elite Rate of US$200/night + Diamond Suite Upgrade
Received: Executive Suite (their words) - I don't know which suite we actually got as a I can't figure out the difference(s) between the two
Other Comments: I extended my 6 night stay to 8 nights and we still kept the suite for 1 night over what we should have been allowed. They had to bump someone from our room to extend for the 2 nights. Also get 4pm late checkout (actually left the room at 5:30pm) which apparently is beyond the 2pm that the property normally has as a cut-off.

Room Booked/Rate: Grand Suite King (Grand King @ $315 + Diamond Suite Upgrade)

Other Comments: It was my parents' 25th wedding anniversary, so I booked a suite and a rollaway for myself. Not only did we receive a F&B amenity ($13 wine + grapes and cookies) which we were able to keep when I swapped to the 1,000 points at check-out, my parents received a handwritten note from the Assistant Manager at the Grand Club along with a bottle of Chandon (not a cheap one) and a pack of macaroons. We also received exceptional service and were waited on hand and foot at the Grand Club Lounge. Only received 2pm late check-out (much to our disappointment) as there was a guest arriving for that suite at 4pm and the surrounding suites were booked.

Well I am not elite.. but I have had a gold passport for a number of years now. Today's experience just confirms why (in my opinion) Park Hyatts are the best. I have stayed in Sofitels, Westins, and Intercontinentals (all very good and again I have the basic card status) but the style of a Park Hyatt is what these other hotels could learn from.
Now if you can indulge me a little (or maybe I should say "warning - ridiculous gushing about to occur") I will document my Park Hyatt experiences... It was love at first sight... when I was in Paris with a girlfriend we had a craving for champagne at about 11am (well we were in Paris after all!).. So, since we were treating ourselves we decided that we would head to The Ritz.. No was the answer. Now I admit we were a little touristy in attire and perhaps a little excited about the whole Paris experience so perhaps this is not the image this hotel was going for.. but just around the corner was the Park Hyatt. I tentatively asked the door staff if Champagne was a possibility and from there the romance began... not only was English no problem, but the welcome throughout the hotel was amazing! We were treated like royalty and it certainly made an impression.
About 3 years later when my partner and I were heading to Paris I really wanted to repay the hospitality that was shown to me on my previous visit, by actually staying at the Park Hyatt, Paris. Again I was not disappointed and everything was perfect. I am very much looking forward to going back there in September 2015.
So in summary.. I have stayed at Park Hyatts in Melbourne, Sydney, Paris and Zurich (and had champagne in Beijing).. I think they have one thing (in particular) in common that separates them from perhaps the other hotels I mentioned.. that is staff. I'm sure it stems from company policy which leads to intensive training but the thing that makes Park Hyatts a seamless, wonderful experience is that no matter what hotel you stay in, and what service you require, the staff member has the skills, desire and authority to make your stay as enjoyable as possible. This includes (and is not limited to) reception, restaurant, house-keeping and front door.. from arranging bike courier transport for conference materials in Melbourne, to welcoming me in Paris that first time, to remembering my name and champagne preference at dinner in Zurich, to generously compensating me for a 5 minute lift outage...
Yes it's expensive but even if you only do it once.. treat yourself.. use points if you have to.. but somehow manage to enjoy all that the Park Hyatt has to offer

I'm also a big fan of PH and have enjoyed all of our stays. Our list of PH hotels - Tokyo, Istanbul, Washington DC, Saigon, Sydney, Melbourne, Canberra
Seriously looking at booking PH Paris for 4 nights - great way to end our family winter holiday however, the need to book two rooms and the plummeting A$ is enough to make your eyes water :shock:
They do have a family offer - 50% off the second room (kids aged 12 and under) however, the Hyatt agent I just spoke with advised that they can smuggle my 14 year old in by setting the booking up as three adults in one rooms and the 12 year old living it up in style in the other connecting room. Decisions, decisions....

I'm no help.. We're staying at the Park Hyatt Paris in a couple weeks and most likely back to Zurich as well.. How do you find the PH compared to the Four Seasons? You had some pretty nice views in your trip report..
Maybe points could help with the financial pain? My room in Zurich was 30k..

I'm losing the argument - looks like we'll be staying at the hotel SWMBO has booked.
FS or PH? Good question. Four Seasons is the clear winner on all fronts - location, service, facilities and service however, every now and again PH gets a win e.g. PH SYD is a clear winner.
Read our AFF credit card guides and start earning more points now.

Thanks Amaroo.. I guess we always tend to lean towards Hyatt as we have points from domestic travel and some international conferences in basic Hyatt hotels (and Mr Up is a platinum member). We don't have any loyalty advantage with FS at this stage but maybe we should try a FS

Ok.. I know that I keep banging on about the Hyatt and how I am having the first flush of a potentially serious crush.. but this is the Hyatt thread so I assume I am allowed

Dates: 1-3 November 2015 (2 nights)
Room booked/ rate: King Room with Breakfast (33,100JPY per night - approx $380 Currency converter tells me)
Received: As above
Other comments: Arrived at 9:30am with an early check-in request. Reception acknowledged the request and then informed me that the hotel was full and therefore could I please come back at 11am. I mentioned that I had a meeting at 11am so I would be leaving the hotel at that time. Reception angel (RA) was most apologetic, rang house keeping, processed my reservation and asked that I wait until 10am. At exactly 10am RA came running out with room card in hand to find me
Breakfast buffet was great, room service also very good. Decor, airconditioning, bed and amenities all very good... Typical Hyatt Regency quality.
Again it is the staff that make this hotel. I was thinking it was just a Park Hyatt thing but this Regency and the Regency in Perth have also done a fantastic job in training their staff.. particularly at Reception. It makes you feel very valued and welcome.
Also the location of this hotel is very convenient - The airport limousine bus drops you straight from Narita International airport to the Hotel door; the subway is a short walk away and there is a shuttle to Shinjuku station (not that I used it as I found the subway to be very convenient).
Watch this space for my status to change as this chain quickly becomes my favourite

I was going to suggest that you must be close to Platinum status due to your stays, I'm considering getting into the Hyatt game as I do love their properties, just not their lack of them... I would only likely reach Platinum as I do not want to lose Hilton status to reach Diamond with Hyatt.Watch this space for my status to change as this chain quickly becomes my favourite

Yes, I know what you mean about availability.. this is probably why I have higher Accor status... there is always an Accor hotel.. Not that I'll ever buy their coughpy Advantage program again.. gave me nothing in Europe
Hoping for better luck in NZ next week.Never tried the Hilton so I can't compare directly.
But for now (in my "crush" stage) I'll be favouring Hyatt properties where available

Not sure where you are located, but perhaps you could get a quick stay in at GH Melbourne and Canberra (or the likes) They are usually at the lower end of the price spectrum from what I've seen. Although from reviews I've heard, Platinum may not be all that worth it to actually spend extra for.

Thanks jackthomas.. Mr Up is a platinum and I think that might be why we got the upgrade to a suite in PH Paris so it probably is worth it! Good idea about a weekend in the city
Now to actually be in Melbourne for a weekend lol..

Had to post and share this email I just received from GH Melbourne for a stay in a week and a bit... Never received an email like this from any Hilton's as an elite member so already impressed by Hyatt's treatment of Diamonds before even stepping in the hotel... It may not serve much purpose, as all the information could be input online however it certainly gave me a good impression.
