Can anyone confirm what the baggage allowances are for Jetstar Economy Classic Reward Seat booked via Qantas.com for a Qantas Bronze Member?

Screenshot of the flight is below:

I believe carry on is 7kg.
What is the checked baggage allowance?
20kg - seems to be standard Jetstar allowance?
23kg - seems to be Qantas allowance?
30kg - seems to be included with some Jetstar fares?

Also is it possible to buy additional baggage for the Jetstar flight if it is booked using Classic Rewards on the Qantas site? Is this done after you have made the booking on the Qantas site or Jetstar site?

My mum will be travelling back from overseas shortly and it is looking like the bag will be around 25kg, hence the questions.

Bumping this thread.

Just booked an international itinerary as classic rewards via QFF including JQ DPS-PER 😳 before doing QF J PER-SYD.

Ignoring the dom J sector, when I booked today, it was saying 20 kg checked luggage (plus usual 7 kg carry on). The ticket (and QF website) suggest that post 15 Feb 2023, it ought to be 30 kg. JQ MMB seems to think 0 kg and happy to take $55 pp for 20 kg.

I’m thinking waiving my QFe-Ticket with included baggage. Thoughts? Practical experience?

As an aside, I’m assuming we have no choice but to pay for seats - or do the middle seat lottery JQ style?….

Noticed in the QF app the baggage allowance under flight info - which is handy but still nothing about the standard increasing to 30 kgs.

That's good to hear. Could you share the page where you found that?

I recently flew Jetstar Asia (3K) from BKK-SIN on Classic Reward and they happily took my 20kg checked baggage. This was in January, 2023.

Here. If I’m reading it correctly?

But that must be a typo, this page look more appropriate with 23kg increase post 15 Feb.

I’ll probably be doing that paid or points later in the year.

If it's a typo then the typo also appears on Qantas issued e-tickets.

I thought that the baggage allowance on JQ classic awards only appears on MMB during the online check-in period. So you may not find out the actual baggage allowance until two days before the fight.

Yep, my ticket also says 30kg. I was going to add a further comment but got distracted searching and booking an AirBnB in London…

Anyway, baggage will be some random number between 20 - 30 kgs…. But I’ll be waving my printed ticket at the checkin agent if they try on anything other.

It looks like neither of those URLs mention Jetstar Asia flights starting with 3K, Jetstar Japan flights starting with GK, or Jetstar Pacific flights starting with BL. They only mention Jetstar flights starting with JQ.

Just be careful with your choice though, as I couldn't find any way to upgrade from the 20kgs checked baggage for classic reward. It wasn't under manage my booking or anywhere that I could find. If you find a way to upgrade your luggage allowance, let us know.

It’s there on the QF website. Find the JQ flight and click on “View baggage”.

For me, it shows “20 kg” for the JQ flight (even though the ticket says 30 kg). But there’s a blue box:

“Purchase additional baggage for flights operated by Jetstar refer to the Jetstar website”

Click on “Jetstar” hyperlink to open your booking.

Scroll down and expand “Checked baggage”. It’s now showing 20 kg pp (when I booked it was showing zero, so that’s at least caught up).

Click on “Edit or add baggage” and you should get +/- buttons to increase in 5kg increments up to 40kgs pp. For me, $38 to increase to 25 kgs, the $40 / 30 kgs…

If you haven’t already, just below the baggage info is the select and pay for seats option.

Glad to hear that adding baggage is working for you. Thanks for sharing the instructions used to do so. I wonder if the add baggage wasn't working for me due to some reason associated with the booking being a reward booking. I also found that I couldn't add/edit baggage on my recent Malaysia Airlines flight on the QANTAS web site where I booked it either, but I didn't check the Malaysia Airlines web site.

My booking is part of a classic reward.

Apologies if this has already been answered @SYD but my daughter has booked JQ CR Y via QF website , is ok with 20kg baggage but has asked me does she get seat selection?
It is $12 each way to select, she is bronze, QF said ask Jetstar, Jetstar said ask QF.
Any thoughts from the community appreciated thanks

My up coming JQ CR flight I paid for “Upfront” seats - to avoid getting coughpy ones at checkin. Yes, Standard seats are $12. As mentioned earlier, QF MMB should have a link to the JQ booking ref to manage seats, meals and extra luggage.

Edit: although I left Oz with checked luggage under 20kgs my QF ticket (reissued when we change to QF J outbound) still says 30 kg on JQ although everywhere else suggests 20 kg - even my PER-SYD QF J flight home….

Yes, that‘s what my QF issued ticket says but the JQ and QF websites show 20 kgs in my example (see post #5). Fortunately I’ll be under 20 kgs anyway….

Qantas/Jetstar need to fix the correct baggage allowance entitlements on their websites.

Booked JQ CNS/DPS using QFF Points. Booking on Qantas website shows 30kg, Jetstar 20kg.
Confirmed by online chat with Jetstar entitlement is 30kg.

This is where it gets interesting, wife likes to take heaps of presents over.
Intend to purchase the extra 10kg on the Jetstar website.
Jetstar Manange My Booking shows 20kg each, purchase the increase from 20kg to 30kg $33 each.
Purchase 20kg to 40kg, $45 each. My calculation is that we should only be paying $12 each for
the extra 10kg. Of course no Club Jetstar discount either.
Will most likely pay the $33 each but they are double dipping.

Tried Jetstar twitter, not getting much sense, emailed Qantas, see what happens.
Got until December.
