February: Lord Howe for 4 nights
March: Egypt, Jordan, Israel, Istanbul for 3.5 weeks

October / November: Rwanda / Tanzania for 2.5 weeks

Trying to find more leave to squeeze more trips in. ;)
...adding Hel in Sep 23 for a conference with a side trip hol to Tallinn :) ....getting back to pre Covid days when I did 5-6 OS trips per year. :)

Finally rebooking the Jordan and Egypt trip that was cancelled in March 2020 when the Aus border closed, aiming for March 2023.

Small group tour, fingers crossed for a good group 🤣

Reminds me, need to start planning/booking our itinerary for Israel & Jordan. Pondering whether I hire a car or use coaches etc. to get around. Hiring a car in Tunisia in a week so should be fun.

Chrissy present from Mrs Jase was a scenic flight and boat package for Milford Sound in Feb with 3 nights at the Sofitel Queenstown. Just booked QR J seats for ADL-AKL return and will book the internal NZ flights, car hire and couple of extra nights in the coming days. Only going to be a short 6 day trip.
Have been asked to join a good friend in Bali for her 50th in July and haven’t even looked at booking that yet, probably only go for a week and book SQ J or see what options there are.
Will try for another short trip to Asia sometime this year but with a European trip later in the year and a with 15-20 AFL and NRL games across Australia it doesn’t leave us many spare dates

SQ has some reasonable, for 2023, flight sales on at the moment. One of the amusing, to me anyway, features is that it is slightly cheaper to fly two SQ flight legs to KL from Perth than one to Singapore. Upmarket hotels in KL have always been cheaper than Singapore but at the moment they seem to be about 1/3rd the price. Has anyone been in KL lately and seen how 'things' are going there?

We were in KL back early November and the place was a hive of activity. Noticed that there was quite a few vacant shops in the shopping centres that had obviously closed due to Covid or related financial pressures but crowds were big, restaurants were full and the bars and clubs we went to were packed.
Things felt very normal there. Our hotel and its staff were absolutely fabulous so all up we had another excellent time in KL

Thanks - a few days in KL in mid-winter plus maybe a hop to Penang would be very nice.

Making up for lost time this year, and using up my long service
Started with a week in Mooloolaba in January
2 and a half weeks in Japan in March/April, going off the beaten tourist track somewhat. Got Reward economy flights combination of Qantas and JAL. 6 hours probably my limit in economy, helped by some time broken up in the middle in Changi.
3 and a half weeks South Korea and Japan June/July. Testing myself with the Cross Country bike path from Incheon to Busan; a week in Kyushu. Award business flights, Cathay there through Hong Kong; Qantas back home via Sydney.
Croatia for 2 weeks in September, week between Split and Dubrovnik; then a bike/cruise Split return. Day/night in Munich before and after. Points and pay business flights with Emirates. Happy to burn a truck load of points to save a heap of cash and be at the front end of the plane.
Come back for a couple of days, then back to the Sunshine Coast to defend WA's Master's National football title. Award business flights.

For us:-
  • Norfolk Island (early Feb - just returned - missed the cyclone by 1 week)
  • Hamilton Island and Hayman Island - 10 days mid-March
  • Vanuatu - 1 week mid-April
  • Mid-June - end-July - Europe (Frankfurt, Berlin, Nuremberg, Friberg, Stuttgart, St Anton, Grindelwald)
  • Mid-Sept (possibility) Aqua Expeditions cruise from Bali to Komodo national park with pre/post stays in Bali and Flores Island
  • December - round Tasmania cruise on Ponant
