If only they allow Starclass redemption, only use I can see is a cheap MEL-SYD flight imo.

I often see 100% discounts on the Qantas points required to book some Jetstar routes, eg MEL-SIN, $169 + 0 points .. vs $169 vs 28,000 pts normally (or 24,000 pts after this discount). :p

True, but reward redemption include 20kg of luggage! :)

No way would I do it. Knowing now what JQ calls normal, and the way that JQ treats passengers, if I were flying to a place where QF flies to as well, on a reward seat, no way would I go JQ, not even if it was 50% off the QF reward seat rate. While I have only flown JQ about 4 times in 20 years of flying, plus 1 domestic cancellation (as they seem to do more often), - read website called don't fly Jetstar (scary), I would not fly them again).

I looked at doing this lower award point deal plus cash, but to Bali it was same price around $500 for 2 pax to book direct with JQ and no points, really these outrageous Qantas fees must go.

I booked 3 one way award tix from SYD - SGN for 54,000 QF points and $150 in taxes. Was quite chuffed given cheapest tix were going for as much as $500 each on the dates I was looking at.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.
