I just got an email from BA asking me to fill in a customer experience survey for my last BA flight (LIS-LHR) last Friday.

I've gotten a number of these before from a number of airlines (mainly QF, CX, AA, BA and JL) and they always have a question like "How many return trips have you made in the last 12 months? Please count an outward and return journey as one trip and exclude the trip you are currently on."

I never know how to answer this question.
In the case of BA, I have maybe 1 or 2 sectors with them a year, as part of a RTW trip. In fact, around 70-80% of the flights I take in a year are part of a single, yearly, round the world holiday.
RTW trips don't really have "outward" and "return" journeys. The airlines form these survey questions around trips like LHR-NRT-LHR, not MEL-SIN-HND-HKG-SIN-LHR-BUD-DOH-DFW-JFK-SEA-LAX-NRT-MEL.
How would you answer this sort of question? Would you consider an entire RTW to be a single "trip" or would you consider each part of the RTW to be a trip (eg 8 stopovers = 8 "trips")?
