Hey all!

I noticed that Cathay has loaded 4-class 77Ws with First Class seating (as opposed to a 3-class 77W in the months prior) into their BNE schedule starting in December according to ExpertFlyer. I understand that they aren't selling First on this route, since the First Class seats are being sold as Business Class, so will 6 lucky business class passengers get to sit in first class seats for the flight?

How likely is it that Cathay updates the schedule in the coming months and moves it back to a 3-class 777?

TIA :)

Hopefully not. We have a QFF awards booking on CX in J on the 9 November HKG-BNE which originally was on the A350 but was able to request seats 1A and 2A when it was changed to the 77W.

Yes, I saw a trip report where ‘lucky’ pax were seated in the F cabin.

I suppose it depends on demand. I’ve been on CX 4-class sold as 3-class where they have blocked the F cabin with no pax at all. But it seems for now at least that isn’t being applied to the AU routes.

Any tips on accessing row 1-2 without status?

Seems to be blocked for diamond members only
It wouldn't surprise me that this would be the case. I was fortunate to fly MEL-HKG on the 77W recently.
Rows 1-2 were indeed blocked and was advised via call/WhatsApp they were reserved for higher tier status members (so presumably Cathay Diamonds) amongst other reasons (traveling with a child, mobility assistance, etc, which is fair enough).
Did also ask at MEL check-in but all seats taken at that point I believe.
